Thoughts & Prayers ,,,

 Arn't enough ,,,   


  I had put out a post here when the shooting happen at The Pathway Home,

I was severely triggered,

 I met with these people, one in particular helped me to someone else in the program who eventually came through for us to have about 1/2 dozen events with them with a promise of more interesting things for the future.

 Well, we know what Happen, and some of you know what I said here.

 I knew I was out of balance,

But in my usual fashion of wanting to put the World in a Head Lock sometimes,

 I've let y'all know some of my nightmare world of what I've witnessed and been a part of.

 Folks wiser than I, have pointed out to me, just how, " unskilled " that is,   

I chose the career I did, and I chose to "engage" some of our trouble veterans and first responders.

  Granted, many things have just been thrown at me as I seem to be a magnet for sudden emergencies,

 But Alas,   

 My Apologies for being so self-righteous as to give ya a visual of my world.

 Y'all know times are tough for many people out there,

  As well as quite possibly, some horrible trauma yourself.

So carry on doing what ya do for our veterans getting them out on kayaks fishing.

 It's always a win as they are just glad to see that y'all care enough to give them that day...

As I heard about yesterday's tragedy, I was sad to see that this once vibrant young man was kicked out of a program  he desperately needed. Why? We will never know.

HOW is a great organization and because of you and accepting me in, my involvement has help a lot of veterans down here in Texas. I take time to give back to them by taking them out on one on one days to where it is just me and them; spending time letting them chill and letting them lead in conversation. Let me tell you the best feeling in the world is having a battle hardened Marine act like a five year old when fishing. With that I know I am doing my job. I have gained the trust of many of our veteran members who know I am just a phone call away.

Yes we can not save everybody, but we can help those who we come in contact with. Lord knows we need more to help, but we are doing what we can.

The whole situation is sad.  But kicking someone out is not something people do for no reason.  He could have been drinking or using drugs or even making threats.  Vets, first responders or anyone with PTSD all have to want the help first and secondly they need to be in a place to accept it.  The majority of PTSD sufferers would never do something like this and calculated murder needs to be punished like any other criminal at least when they don’t commit suicide or suicide by cop. 

I also suffer from PTSD and can be triggered by events like this.  So many volunteers do put themselves at risk even if it is really small in comparison to other activities.  God bless those that do help and know your work is invaluable.

From what I'm hearing, he was making violent threats, that will always be unacceptable ,,,

Like Dangling and others here, I also deal with the nightmares of PTSD. What happened up there was a tragedy that should not have happened, but it did.  I can't understand the why's, I guess if I ever felt that bad off,  I would turn myself in, before I would take someone else's life.  Hard to understand, but this was someone who had issues, and they must of have been pretty severe. People here at work new one of the providers as she worked here for a stint before moving to SFVA.
