We received news today that Hobie Fishing has chosen the Shasta Bass Kayak Classic March 25-26 as a Hobie Fishing Worlds Qualifier.
This is great news for kayaking in our area, not only do we get to raise money for ShastaCA Heroes On The Water but norcal kayak anglers get to prove their kayak fishing skills against participants from around the western US.
First place will be a CHOICE an invitation to the 2017 Hobie Fishing Worlds (with amount to still be determined to cover travel costs) or a 2017 Hobie Outback.
Second place will receive which ever prize the first place finisher doesn't choose. We will also do additional payout depending on number of participants.
At minimum $30 from each entry will go to Heroes On The Water
Each participant will receive raffle tickets with their entry fee. We have some nice prizes to give away

Can appreciate that, we thought a lot about the fee, but we want to put on a first class tournament and raise funds for Heroes On The Water. I know many people are prostaff for different companies but this is an all around good thing for NorCal and kayak fishing in our area.
Today we added Phil's Propeller shop as a sponsor, he supplies bass fishermen for Lake Shasta and they have great knowledge of the fishing, the more participants the more they are willing to offer in prizes and the more we raise for HOW.

Been getting a few questions.
Artificial lures only
There will be multiple launch sites on Lake Shasta, the final number will be decided as we get closer to tournament and know how many participants.
Main launch and check in is Bridge Bay Resort, if you plan on staying overnight get your room reservation soon, they only have 40 rooms. Plenty of major chain motels in Redding, campgrounds, RV parks around, There are some links on our web site.
3 longest bass each day, will be totaled to determine winner, (spotted, smallmouth and largemouth any combination).
No trolling and no motors.
Personal water craft only, human powered, kayak, SUP or canoe.
Any questions feel free to email or message me on the FB page.

If he is 16 or older bring him with you! 16 and 17 year old's are welcome as long as parent or guardian is also fishing. Would be something for northern California to send a Junior fisherman to Hobie Worlds.

It's great to hear we actually got a west coast qualifier this year. See everyone there.
-
FYI, if you are considering fishing the tournament you can go ahead and register at https://www.ianglertournament.com/ without actually paying the entry fee right now.
Once you create your user name and password there is a Demo Tournament where you can start practicing taking pictures of fish on your Hawg Trough and uploading like in actual tournament. Smartphone is best but if there is someone who uses a digital camera to fish make sure you are off the water and in line early. Most will have smart phones and will have already uploaded their pictures.

If you look at all our tournament page and scroll down you will see latest rules and FAQ's. Rules are subject to change but likely this will only have to do with the prizes and payout this close to the tournament.

Thanks Bryan

Great work Bryan, this is going to be awesome. I think I will stand as volunteer for the tournament and safety boat. Are you going to have a raffle also ? Let me know what we can do to help ( Kim & Tim )
-
We are adding sponsors and working on details. Will make announcements in the next few days. Will be some nice raffle prizes.
FYI, we won't be selling raffle tickets, but all participants will receive a yet to be determined amount, depends on number of people and how many sponsor donations.
We are looking like at minimum $30 from each registration will go to Heroes On The Water, we are also planning a payout, again depends on numbers, we would like to get down to 10 or 15 places and at least have several people win their entry fee back with people placing higher winning some bigger prizes.
Heard from Bridge Bay Resort today kayaks will be launching on the North Ramp. Will try to get up there in next week or two and post some pictures.
Also if you follow the Western Bass Series you might look up their event this past weekend at Bridge Bay, a lot of fish caught, some big ones right out in the main channel.
Bridge Bay does boxed lunches, I believe it is $12, if enough people are interested in that we may do a sign-up sheet or something, although you would probably pay the resort direct.
