In the market for a color ff with GPS.
Don't want to spend more than 500.00
Any recommendations are appreciated.
Would like to have navionics on it as well since I like the app on my Iphone.

If you prefer Humminbird the Helix line up is getting some pretty good reviews these days. 

The Helix 5 with traditional 2D sonar and GPS will run you $300.

The Helix 5 with traditional 2D sonar, Down Imaging, and GPS is $350.

The Helix 5 with traditional 2D sonar, Down Imaging, Side Imaging, and GPS is $450. 

All of them accept an SD card for adding mapping software like LakeMaster or Navionics.

You might be able to find a good deal on a HDI unit since they're being phased out (already) and replaced by CHIRP units. They basically operate on the same frequencies and do the same thing. I have the Elite-4 CHIRP, I wish I would have spent the extra and got the 5 for the wider screen.

The small screen can be challenging if your trying to show chart, downscan and reg sonar all at the same time. I don't know if you have your display showing the pages vert. But I found this was a bit difficult to see/ operate the chart. You can however change it so the chart takes up the entire top section on the screen and the other two split the entire bottom section. From there you can then move the dividing lines to say give more space to the charts.

From the manual

You can adjust the panel size of combo pages and control how the pages will be arranged on the screen: vertically (side) or horizontally (over). To make adjustments to combo page panels, select a combo page from the Pages carousel and press MENU.

If your not already using this pages layout on the 4, I think you might find it a little easier to chart while still marking fish clearly.
