OK Guys... a little eye candy to get more of you thinking of making the trek to the Elk Tourney.  The rod to be raffled is finished and hot off my wrapper.

This is a sweet rod and very versatile for our type of fishing... Features include:

-Graphite / Glass composite blank... light and strong.  Perfect for 20# line and rated for 1/2 - 3 oz lures... but I've used up to 6 oz jigs no problem.
-Solid titanium frames are light weight, strong, and will never rust.
-Spiral guide placement for optimum performance.
-Fuji Palm Style Trigger Reel seat... very comfortable... only available to custom rod builders.

I'd normally sell a rod like this for over $300.

So... I'm thinking $5 raffle tickets.

All money from the raffle will be donated to a fishing related organization... which organization do you want the money to go to... vote and we'll make a consensus.

I'd like to support whomever we think will do the most for our kayak fishing interests with respect to the proposed Marine Life Protection Act.

Amazing job.

Do you know what that is going to do to Joel's ego?  First the NCKA logo, then a 27# salmon, now a custom rod?   :smt001

Erik,
That rod would look really nice next to my other ones!! :smt007   I'm down for a couple tickets.
I'm not voting, so put the $ to the org which you think best fights the MLPA's.

The past two weekends have been good on the North Coast lings.  Lotsa big fish being taken.

Erik, that is one nice looking rod. Almost looks too good to fish with... especially from a yak.

Thanks for the compliments guys... hopefully you guys will buy a lot of raffle tickets so we can make a nice donation on behalf of NCKA...

Looks like you guys are leaving the tie breaker up to me... it'll be between Coastside and KFASC... anyone else care to vote?

It's definitely not too nice to fish with... it will definitely handle the rigors of our kind of fishing.  A few battle scars will only improve the appearance in my opinion.  And with guide frames that will never rust... you can't go wrong.

OK... After getting PAL's opinion on the matter, the money from the raffle will go to Coastside fishing club on behalf of NCKA and KFASC.

I share PAL's opinion that our dollars will go farther with Coastside at this point since they are the big dogs compared to KFASC, and actually have active voices in the MLPA process.

I intend to craft a letter to Ben Sleeter and others who are active in this issue from Coastside to accompany our donation.  The letter will express how much we appreciate their personal involvement in this important process and perhaps increasing their awareness of how vulnerable kayak anglers are be to coastal closures as compared to other recreational anglers.  Also to let them know what KFASC has done already to put kayak angler's interests on the table and that KFASC and NCKA are there if more work is needed.

With that said... I'd encourage others to drum up items for a raffle so we can attract as good of a donation pool as possible.

I'll coordinate the raffle... take money, issue tickets, etc.

Feel free to post raffle items here so others can see what will be up for grabs.
