Title: (BOUGHT ONE) WTB - Ocean Kayak Trident 13
Post by: Tinker on September 02, 2017, 05:39:50 AM
That one up in Napa (http://www.norcalkayakanglers.com/index.php?topic=80046.0) got away from me, so I'm back to looking for something a whole lot like it.

Pre-2017 model, 2015 or 2016 preferred, but if it's older and hasn't been fully decked-out, we'll talk.

Who needs a bit more room in the garage?  Seen one for sale?  Let me know about it!

I have a trident 4.3 ultra with a rudder I might be interested in selling. It is similar to a trident 13 in size but I believe it has a little  bit more rocker and I think the nose is better designed to cut through swell. Plastic also seems more heavy duty than regular trident thirteen. I like it a lot better than my sons regular trident thirteeen. I put a custom lawn chair seat in it but I still have the factory seat in my garage also. For some reason I can't post pics but if interested I can text or email them to you

What year and how drilled?  No firm commitments on the Revo because of my location.  Yet.   :smt003

Thank you, scooter.  I'm limiting the kayak to 13' so it's the same length as the Hobie Revo it's replacing and I won't have to re-build all kinds of things in the garage.   :smt001

The Ultra's are darned good boats, just 7" longer than what I'm looking for.

I will check the year. Drills are for FF and anchor. I got it that way. I will PM YOU.

Am I to be doomed to fishing only in puddles and backyard swimming pools?

Everyone and their mother is selling a Hobie, is no one selling a Trident 13 this year?

I bought two T13 off of CL within the last 3 weeks. Great deals + lots of extras. They are always popping up on CL

I'm searching from Portland to Monterey Bay East to the borders of Oregon and California and I'm not seeing them.  T15's and a pile of 2017 T13's but I'm not looking for those.

Where have you been searching CL?  I'd surely like to know what I'm doing wrong,

I searched boats and sporting in the Mendo, Humboldt, Sac, and SF bay areas for about a month and had about 15 kayaks flagged on my favorites list (not all T13 but similar style/class).

It appears you are correct right now, however, there aren't any older T13 still posted. Good luck on the hunt.

I also bought a T13 this month (posted for sale by another member on here), and have seen many of them on the north bay CL in the past few months.  Sometimes they are asking too much, almost near new prices, but for the fair-priced ones, you have to move really fast.  The Trident series comes highly recommended, and they seem to have no problem finding new homes when they are posted.   I just bookmarked the CL North Bay boats section, and only search for "Ocean Kayak," because sometimes the model isn't in the title.  -Good Luck

I'm looking at the two craigslist sites twice a day now.  My bad for selling a Hobie before I had the T13.  In the past, they've haven't been this hard to find.

I just go in a enter "ocean kayak" in the search box and select the "For Sale" option.  I think I'll start checking under "boats for sale".

Thank you both.  I appreciate all the suggestions I can get!

I have a yellow 09 pt13 uncut rarely used with modpod upgrade. I have been on the fence about selling it but I could use my garage space back ( always garaged).also have a 2010 pt13 in sand color with modpod, fish finder installed and a small cleat added on the right hand gunnal next to the seat. Both have stock seats . I would take $500 for the yellow one and 650 for the sand.

Clavey in Petaluma had a demo Trident 13, I think a 2016 for sale, I don't remember the exact price but it was under 1k. Anyway you could give them a call if that is in your range.

I called them and haven't received a call back.  I'll call again tomorrow.  Thanks!

The older T13's are  about 20 pounds lighter.

I knew they were lighter, but didn't know they were 20 pounds lighter.  Thanks for that.

Prowler 13 with FF, $400.  But it's down south.

The Trident 13 with its sonar pod and mod pod is so much better for fishing the ocean than the Prowler 13.

A few T13's are starting to show up on CL again - now that Oregon has closed the bottomfish season.  Go figure!

Agree... Just providing some options for the man... I kinda miss my T13 now

Options are always good, so thanks for that.  I'm kicking myself for buying the T11 last year instead of a holdover T13 but I didn't suspect I'd get rid of the Hobie.

Anyone in the Sacramento area who might be willing to stop by Kayak City and check a yellow 2011 T13 for me?  You can't buy it - it might be mine - but you could tell me if it's in as good shape as they claim.

Clavey paddle shop is having their annual demo sale. And I noticed a blurb about a new P13 blem on sale...

Fish Master 1 (Andy) posted about this earlier today.  Great deal, unfortunate about the seller's health issues.

Thanks for telling me.  I'm looking for an older model (the 2017's have too much deck clutter for my fly-fishing style) but I truly appreciate you letting me know about it.

Thanks!  I've been keeping an eye on that one.  I'm hoping to find a brighter color - urban camo at least (picky, huh?) - but it is a great deal and yeah, it's sad that a health issue is forcing the sale.  I'll let you know if I get off my keister and go for this one.

Thanks to Fish Master1, too!

Well, I finally found one that will work, but I can't say it was the best experience of my life.  A well-known dealer in Sacramento claimed the picture on the web site was of a yellow 2014 T13 store demo, so I bought it,  It turned out to be a 2010 not a 2014, but the price was okay and it's in good shape.

It's a shame when shops that have an online business do that.  I should have paid attention to the PM I received warning me about them...
