HOW NorCal @ McCovey Cove - 8/20/16 - Volunteers Wanted!

Hi All,

We've been very busy behind the scenes here hatching a plan to attend the Giants game on August 20, 2016.  We've come up with a somewhat workable plan with logistics and all, as well as some cooperation with the SF Giants.  So now, we're ready to solicit for some help on the water!

Here's our plan:
Take approximately 10 veterans out on kayaks, launching from the Pier 52 area and paddling 1 mile north to McCovey Cove. 
So far, we have our normal 6 volunteers, and are looking for more volunteers to provide paddle support for the group as well as help getting into and out of kayaks. 

Thanks to SFMTA, we have blocked off approximately 20 parking spots for our use, right next to Mariposa Yacht Club.  Due to trying to save some spots for our veteran attendees and equipment, we can only guarantee free parking to about 6 cars.  So if you would like to volunteer, if you could carpool with someone else it would allow us to have even more volunteers.  If not, we completely understand but are trying to be efficient with what we have.

In addition, we would really appreciate some sort of powerboat support at this event.  At the very worst, I could use my powerboat to support the group, but would prefer if we had a larger boat with some sort of swim step/swim door access so that the Vets can get in and out of the kayaks easily and go to the restroom as necessary.  We have a couple of workaround ideas in place but it would be best if we could get a boat to help with that as well as possibly some on the water grilling.

If you think you can help, please either post in this thread or send me an email at Treasurer.norcal@heroesonthewater.org.  I'll also be soliciting powerboat support on our Facebook page and on Coastside, but wanted to give the opportunity here first since NCKA is our best resource for volunteers.

In addition to the above, NorCal HOW would love for everyone who wants to join us on the water to do so!  While we can only provide the parking to a few people, we welcome all comers to join us if you can find your own transportation/parking options.  Let's make this a killer day!

SOOOOO bummed.... I have been waiting for this and now it is here and I cant go... Its on a drill weekend.....    oh well I hope everyone else has a great time.

NO FIREWORKS AND NO MONKEY BUSINESS!!!! This is all about helping veterans heal. I have been in contact with the Giants organization and let them know who we are and what we are about. They know we will be there and are very supportive and sympathetic to our cause. This is a tremendous opportunity to present H.O.W. to the public eye. It is important that we represent responsibly. I will be on my very best behavior and i ask that others be on theirs too.  Please.

hehehe guys...  No one here would light off fireworks and get harassed by the cops.  Couldn't picture it...

Do you have any info for those that show up to support the cause. I've never launched there and have no idea on where to park or launch.
