A good friend of mine passed in December and myself and two buddies are trying to plan a trip as a lil remembrance trip so to speak. We are hoping to find a freshwater lake that has a good fish population (LMB, Smallies, or trout) but also has campsites that are away from most others and all amenities, preferably somewhere where we could boat in.

Best case scenario is a lake with a no wake/no motors allowed that is a relatively good fishery, secluded boat in campsites, and the chance to not see other people for 3-5 days. We would prefer a place with bass but wouldn't mind working on our trout fishing too.  Thanks in advance.

Sorry to hear this, all our lakes up I80 corridor are absolutely BLOWN out. Chocolate milk... Lake camanche? Might be an option....

Lake Sonoma would seem to me a pretty solid option. Pig season is over mid March so the boat in camping will be a little quieter. April is usually a little earlier than most waterski types get onto the lakes.

I'm also counting on all the sierra lakes still being snowed in then.

I didn't even think about that. I guess we should move our trip to around June then.

Ya never know. I like the eastern sierras a lot but it seems the best roads there don't open until darn near june most years.  there are other ways to get to them as well.  its always tough planning this far out in advance and not being sure what mother nature will contribute.
