Troll incoming tide for salmon, soak sardines, drift bluegill, throw lures for striper and bass on the outgoing. The troll from koket to walnut grove can be productive and a little less chaotic then trying to troll in the section below vierras. Sometimes that is anyway, can be a zoo in the grove at times also! Good luck, have fun!

is the ferry at rio vista/cache slough public to launch/bank fish? I am trying to kayak to the DWC if not maybe just bank fish there.

I've launched there and I've seen people fish there. Rio Vista side, the dirt to the right of the road.

The Ryer Island side is not for bank fishing. The Rio Vista side is better. You can fish at the ferry. There are also spots between the ferry and Rio Vista. There are also lots of private areas. From the ferry going upstream from Rio Vista is no bank fishing on both sides.

A 3/4 oz rattletrap will catch both salmon and striper. Slow troll/retreive for salmon, faster for striper. I told a few people at the DWC that rattletraps have been outproducing anything else for me on the salmon, and now I'm seeing rattletraps in every DWC photo on social media.... so I guess my "secret" is out.  :smt044

Oddball view/question regarding Ryer island.  They had a problem years ago with people fishing from the levee at night and digging holes into the sides of them to get out of the cold/wind.  It was my understanding that was the reason for the closure.

With that in mind, don't the closure signs just state "no parking"?

Hmm, just did a google map street view and a generic sign looks like no anything including photo's, spitting or driving with the windows down.

Could you push the envelope and ride the ferry across with your car parked on the Rio Vista side?  I used to fish the east side at night right at the ferry crossing pylons and had a blast.
