Title: Which Kayak Stores to check out in the Bay Area
Post by: freelancer27 on December 05, 2017, 02:48:45 PM
Hi all,

I am pretty close to buying my first fishing kayak. I think I am pretty set on a Hobie, but would like to test some oder peddle kayaks as well.

I live in Sausalito, but would be willing to drive a bit to get to a shop that has a great selection, good service and a way to test drive the yaks.

Do you have any recommendation on shops that I should consider?

Thanks!

Cheers,
Seb.

Headwaters Kayak in Lodi. Dan is super cool and so is the rest of the staff. Lodi lake is just a few minutes from there and they are always down to let you go for a spin.  They actually encourage it.(no hobies either) It's a bit of a drive but worth it in my opinion. California Canoe and Kayak is also a good place although I'm not sure about demos

CCK at Jack London square/Oakland should have Hobies and Natives from my understanding.

Headwaters in Lodi only carries Native pedal drives, as well as NuCanoe with the H20 pro-ped drive.

Adventure sports in big break/oakley demos Hobies. Don't know what else they have.

Clavey has a shipment of Native watercraft pedal kayaks coming in shortly, if not already.

Wilderness Radar too at Adventure. Also they carry the Perception Pilot.

I bought mine (rental/used) from CCK at the Oakland location. We like the fact that they allowed us to test it out first and the customer service is good.  In fact, they helped with fixing a couple of leaks around the rudder cables on warranty.
