Haven't finalized my itinerary yet, but that weekend and the following week are my vacation. I plan to visit family in my old Kentucky home, we may have to organize some NCKA express for the Bud Light to Monterey!

Victor?  :smt044 :smt044

If Victor is not available to bring the Bud Light, I could pick it up. I am not missing this event.

Heads up there is a huge volleyball tournament going on that weekend (Thurs-Sunday). They will probably take up mist of the beach area. And city of Monterey doesn't rent the BBQ Picnic area anymore [removed the tables & bbq].
So, please be on your best behavior. We may end up doing the raffle & potluck about 200yds north of our normal spot.

Btw I recall Mooch loved beach volleyball (or, at least, loved the women volleyballers...)

I am sure it will all work out.  :smt004

We can get there at first light and stake claim to space.

MBK will still be doing kayak business so can't imagine that there will be volleyball stuff blocking that run of beach.

And yes, we can party with the volleyball players!!  :smt003 :smt005

Jim

Info below is from 2015 PIF thread
Attached is a list of Hotels/Motels/Inns in the area (Marina, Seaside, Monterey, PG). All of them have higher rates than normal [due to cool Superbike race]. I would try for one that's on this list but doesn't show up on Expedia, Hotels.com, Kayak, etc. Best rate right now is the Thunderbird in Seaside @ $110. It seems like the jacked-up rates stop once you get to Salinas, Watsonville, or Gilroy...that's where you will find more reasonable rates for 7/17-18.

The closest hotel to MBK (walking distance) with availability & somewhat-reasonable rates is the Fireside Lodge. Or the Monterey Oceanside Inn. Other hotels within walking distance include Hotel 1110, Stage Coach Lodge, the Monterey Hotel. The Hyatt, Hilton, and Marriot are pretty close too but higher rates.

Here's the cliff notes version of trailer & rv camping near Monterey.
Veterans Park is the only real campground in Monterey. Other nearby trailer-camping options include the Monterey Fairgrounds and Laguna Seca Raceway. Then heading north towards Santa Cruz, we've got Moss Landing KOA, Watsonville La Selva Beach KOA, Sunset State beach, Manresa State Beach, New Brighton beach, and Seacliff beach. Then there's Pfieffer Big Sur state park (30min south) if you want to camp somewhere scenic & peaceful.

Live your life, the way you want to be remembered. Don't have any regrets, we only get this one dance to make it count. Start at your eulogy, and work backwards.
