Is it tired looking or just the yellow that's eat at you
If it's faded there's a nice little mixture you can make and have it shining like new
Done it to a few quads
It's not a bad yellow, I've come to a decision that I'm going to plasti dip it

I spray painted my old scrambler for duck hunting, the paint startes to fade and wear off after about 6 months,  i didnt like it so i took a pressere washer to it and it took every bit of paint off in a few minutes.
I hate yellow kayaks, they work for fishing but i like to dive mostly with my kayak and id rather not be seen in one of my good spots. I dont go around anywhere filled with boats either so i dont worry about being hit.
Yea I agree with you, I'm not really In a area with a ton of traffic

They make a removable skin spray "paint", can't remember the brand but O'Reillys sells it in many different colors.  Used it on the fenders of a quad I have.  Pretty cool.  If you like don't like it it peels off in sheets pretty easily.  However, they say to change it out around six months or so or removal may be more difficult.

It is pretty resistant to dings so far, but a yak dragged across rocks it will scrape it up.  Removed some from the quad fender to test removal and it had no effect (discoloration, etc) on the fender plastic at all

BTW I have both a yellow yak and a grey camo yak.  My go to is the yellow yak.  I'd much rather been seen in case of emergency.  IMO.

Thanks for the solid info Pau Hana, I'll have to check that out

I had an old blue Malibu Pro Explorer that I rattled-canned with Krylon Fusion that held up much better than I expected.  If visibility is a concern then keeping it yellow would be a good idea.
That looks killer man!

Not sure why you would buy a yellow kayak if you dislike yellow. If it bothers you that much, you can always sell it and buy a kayak of a different color.
That's because this 15' trident  I got for $900 came with a hummingbird fish finder, 12 volt battery charger, an ore, a seat, wheelez cart, a gaf, net, rod holders, and a tackle box with tackle in it. At that time it could have been chrome and I still would have got it

I wouldn't buy a spray painted kayak! But maybe if it had a cool custom wrap job!
Like hillbilly chrome, shoot' get ya' a whole case of duct tape and let's  NASCAR chrome that sucka
Hell yes!

For resale purposes is this a bad call? Just not really feeling the yellow.

In my mind after-market paint jobs will destroy the resale value, both on a what's-he-hiding factor and reducing the appeal to the mom n pop/ non fishing crowd. And I agree with yakhopper that yellow (or at least hi-viz) is your friend.
That's what I was thinking too, good to hear a second thought, thanks!
