If it's any consolation, California's name change drops the word Game and now only 12 states have it in their agency.

One of only 13 states still using "Game" in the title of their wildlife agency in 2012, the state legislature changed the Department's name from Fish and Game to Fish and Wildlife, effective January 1, 2013. Eighteen other states use "wildlife," while the others generally use "natural resources" or "conservation", reflecting trends towards expansion of the agencies' missions from sportfishing and hunting alone, to protection of nongame wildlife and whole ecosystems. The legislation followed recommendations of a 51 member "stakeholder advisory group"

I heard they aren't called Game Wardens either.  Can't remember their new title though...

Gearing Up and Rigging Up / Re: Hauling Around All That Gear!
« on: January 07, 2013, 07:21:40 PM »
I've found it easier to have dedicated equipment for fishing/kayaking.  For example; a flashlight.  I have one just for the kayak.  I other flashlights for the truck, the camper, the house, etc. are for those things so I'm not running round trying to figure out where I last used that flashlight.
I stow all this gear in the mesh bags.  It makes it easy to see everything and it airs stuff out.  I carry my gear on the kayak in a milk crate.  They are easy to get from Big Lots, Wal-Mart, etc.  The ones behind the grocery stores are way too heavy.  Lighter the better.
One of the most important things is that I set up for a trip when I unpack from the last trip.  I don't dump off in the garage and walk away, I go through everything first and then replace, recharge, refill and wipe/clean everything within 24 hours of returning home.

That's a cool map!  I'm going to print one up and add names, and NCKA names.  Then I know who I'm asking when I need help back to my own camping spot!!  ha!!

I keep one in my truck with a telescoping pole.  If I pass a stream or other body of water, I can toss a few casts and get my 'fix'.  The only real problem is that they don't hold much line.  Maybe 150' max?

A small bag of tackle and this reel on a telescoping pole is like emergency fishing gear to me.

I got my reel on Monday.  Thanks!  I made a slight adjustment to the level wind.  One side was dragging a little, so I took it apart and checked it out.  A little piece didn't seat right I guess because it now works perfectly.  I must say, the reel arrived in perfect shape and in excellent condition; the insides are very clean, no sand or debris and it's lubed GREAT!!  Thanks again and looking forward to receiving the other items.

Hobie Kayaks / Hobie PA loader

I saw this video on a loader and thought I'd pass along to my fellow PA owners.  Might work for the larger Hobie's like the AI's too.

I've attended several other past events, just not a GS event.   That means I still need a sponsor, right?

Just added...

Chicago Tools (Harbor Freight) chainsaw sharpener.  Used it to sharpen two chains after a hurricane in Florida.  Had it in storage here ever since.  Now I have two.  Grinder disc is like new.  Adjustable grind depth, angle, and so on.

Ncka $25

Pictures available upon request or I'll post when I can get to Internet access.

All right Bill, your killing me!!  I want this too.  If you can, toss it in with the other stuff.  If you've already shipped, let me know what you want for shipping this to me.
Thanks!! :smt004
