I might be tied up with some big projects this summer to handle this, however Michael Yamagata is on board and I'm Sure Ariel is as well...
Any input to construct this further go ahead and get a hold of DaBruddah Michael or myself... INPUT!

Im in for this one for sure. Once you go whole hog, you can't go back I would be glad to contribute $ toward the hog.
There is no room for half-ass when you go whole-hog.

Hey Jack,
Great talking to you today. As a member of the Sportsmen's Club there, the Harbor owners have an interest in developing more kayaking and kayak fishing experiences. I felt that we did a really great first NCKA Tourney there last July and I am definitely in for the heavy lifting to make it happen again. The Pt. San Pablo Yacht Harbor is a very special spot that is all it's own and a wonderful community of people.
I will be working with Jack and calling on the community for help in different areas to make the Red White and
Stripers 2018 even better!!!
Please call me if you are interested in helping.
Aloha,
Michael S. Yamagata

This was definitely a fun event last year. Only wish I could have stayed for the pig.
Would definitely love to do it again this year.

Interested.

I voted yes but only because there was no "halibut is too dry" option :smt003

Count me in. I flipped over and lost my Hobie drive right in front of the harbor mouth last year. It really was all my own fault. I was too eager to get the yak going that I didn't put the washer on my transducer cable mount. Maybe I will snag my drive back. That would be music to my ears.

Oh wow I remember seeing someone in a yellow Hobie flipped over while I was already on land. Didn't realize that was you.

I look at my wife and with no context I say..."July 7th!", she says..."is that the day of your tournament?" I had to smile because she remembered without knowing it was being created. It is the one Saturday event I can afford a year for fishing. I may push for GS13 next year but that is long shot. She bought this mug for me a while back and this T-shirt is recent for herself. :smt006

Great T-Shirt got to find one for my wife. :smt001

Ladies and Gentlemen, I am going to have to cancel this event unless someone wants to take it over. Due to harbor policy, there is nowhere to camp this year and management has put a nope on the RV's...
If someone doesn't step up and take over, I have to cancel. I am too busy with work this year to make it happen. I do have access to an area we can camp etc.. but we have to be creative.
Call or text me to let me know if you are interested in the reigns of this project, Thanks
Jack Johnson

So far I am not sure anyone has taken the reigns yet so there is no sign up, unless I am wrong.

This sounds like a awesome event. I am definitely in if it will is on.
Thanks,

Nobody is stepping up to take control of this event so it's cancelled until further Miracles appear

Hey Jack,
I'm in touch with Michael and seeing what we can do. I know Michael is pretty busy as well. I'd be willing to take the reins but I've never run specifically a kayak tournament before plus I don't know what conditions you and the residents want from us.
Last year was a great fun event but I'm sure not all your residents were happy with the influx of visitors.
- If we ran another event there, would the harbor/yacht club help sponsor the event? I.e. Use of the clubhouse, parking, kayak launch?
- Could Captain Frank? (Sorry can't remember his name) still be able to help get us live bait? Which can be sold to attendees like last year?
- Any special conditions other than no overnight camping?
I'm interested in putting this together. If I can ruse another member or two to help with the accessory items (food/bev/signage), then I'll sure I can handle it.
Kevin

I don't think it really has to involve camping.
Just do a basic 1 day MBF style tournament , potluck and leave. :smt003

I don't think it's that simple. It's not like we're having at potluck at a county park, ARW, or OP. San Pablo Yacht club also has residents, that for a long time, likely enjoyed their quiet seclusion. Before Jack became Harbormaster, there used to be huge signs warding off outsiders and fishermen.
Last years tournament was a great event but was also a learning experience of what we can and cannot do. There are no public facilities to hold a gathering, we'd be using the clubhouse to host the event. So we'd need some support from their end. We don't need the overnight camping but we will need space to park vehicles and trailers since the launch area is adjacent to resident parking. Basically, I don't want to do anything to piss of the longtime residents of the harbor. I'd like to be able to build a good relationship with them, so we get invited back year after year, and keep any complaints/stress for Jack to a minimum.

yo yo, Give me a call if you want to take over, 510.575.1190
The harbor restaurant is also opening that Saturday and will be a huge fun time!
We could do something as simple as a fish and chill or whatever. I already talked to frank and he would be down for the bait as far as the Harbor sponsoring(not the club) I will have to ask, but a lot of people were on board...just need a final approval. I'll have access to harbor boat etc, and I'll be around, but I can't dedicate anything right now due to pending projects I have for work.

GOOD NEWS!
Jack, Michael, and I are going to make this happen.
