Pat and Joel,

There are several places up here (Bodega Bay, Fort Bragg) where you can rent ab diving gear (wetsuit, mask, fins, snorkel, weight belt, float tube, ab iron and ab gauge).

You really have no excuse not to give it a try.

Yeah, Joel.  That is why that area will be closed to fishing in 14 months.......... :smt011

Uhhhhh, Brian.......do they rent skill too?  (((((((((((heh, is Brian being helpful or trying to knock some of us off before the next tournie?????????)))))))))))))

I do read the diving posts and suggestions.  We'll see how brave I am feeling when I get back from Alaska.

My son was out in the zodiac and he's a month shy of 3.

The floatline trick worked well for my dad, alan and Jack, at least for showing them where the abs are.  Getting them off the rock is then the hard part.  If the newbies give up I can return and pop the mutilated ab to prevent waste...

Pat,

I know a place you can get abs in about 4-6 ft below mean low low water (i.e. 0 tide).    So if the tide is a +2 then the abs are about 6-8 ft deep.   If the tide is -2 ft then the abs are within wading depth.

Just don't be expecting monster Jelly sized abs.

Oh, and at $16 an ab card is a great bargin even if you go out only once and get three abs.

Bsteves~
CHUB's first "wetsuit" was something put together with 2 of those neoprene waist slimmers. I cut a hole in the middle of one and placed it over CHUB's head so equal ends would drape over his stomach and back. The next one I wrapped around his torso to hold everything in place.
They just do not make anything for the tiny ones, but this actually worked pretty well when he was on the front of a SkiDoo at age 2.

Tote,

Maybe you've just come up with totegear's next product line... toddler neoprene suits.

Don't think I haven't considered it. :smt003 I cannot even get a dive suit that fits CHUB from Dolphin Dive center in Sacto.
Sub Surface Progression in Ft Bragg has the best selection for children that I have come across. Plus they let you trade in for a bigger size as the kid grows. Can't beat that.
