Hit the water with Jelly the other day...great water and so-so viz.  I have been scoping a new zone and beach our boats and surface swam out in to 10-15 feet.  Quality abs were abundant.  I put my iron on a float line so I could I could drop it when I saw something good and return to the area if necessary...worked great.

Found a nice crack with some good abs and left the iron behind.  Jelly dropped in and popped himself his first 9 incher.  He was STOKED!!!

Jelly with his first over 9...

I managed a limit of nice thick abs as well...

We loaded up and went to the Elk house for a fresh snail feast...life is GOOD!

Awesome.

I would love to try this some time, but I have no equipment.

Can you describe the taste of abalone?

Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

Cross between scallops and squid.

Mol-they are a mollusc so think scallopish like flavor but milder.  Like anything prep and freshness are a big part of it too.  I'm planning on bringing some tomendo for the potluck.

Speaking of personal bests - weekend before last was Carter's first fishing trip on a yak. I put him in the tankwell and we spent an hour or so on the Linda Mar bay. Of course, he was the only one to land a fish!

I'm pretty sure I could stick my son Owen in the small center hatch of my Cobra Navigator.  Now if I can only find a wetsuit in 6-9month baby size.

Speaking of sticking kids in a kayak.  Has anyone ever seen "Nanook of the North".  It's an early (1922) documentary about eskimos, er.. escuse me "inuit".  Anyway, there is a seen where Nanook paddles up to an ice flow and hops out of his seal skin kayak.  Shortly afterwards his wife pops out from within hull of the kayak followed by one of his kids, then another, and another.  Finally a small boy holding a puppy makes his way to the hatch and Nanook helps them out.

Anyway, I highly recommend "Nanook of the North" for any one who wants to see how it is to live out of your kayak in the arctic.  Here's the netflix link...

Almost forgot...

Nice ab Jelly.  I wish I could find more that size down here in Sonoma County.  I'm pretty happy here when I find a nice fat 8 incher.

Way cool.  I really do have to find a way to try this.  I suspect you've got the edge on this big time Jelly.

Pat - If I ever get enough money saved on my piggy bank - for a wet suit, the first place I'd want to dive in is Lover's Point  :smt007 The first time I paddled out there with you guys (when you caught your first big butt) I was truly amazed on how clear the water was  :smt007 :smt007
