Might be better off sand dabbing in the Monterey Area. Moss Landing is a good place to start. My ex-roomate commercial fishes for sand dabs in the HMB area and says they tend to find 'em further out and it deeper water. Don't have to paddle far out from Moss Landing to get to the dabs. We used to catch 'em in about 40 to 50 feet right outside the harbor using shrimp flies tipped with squid.

Good luck and watch weather closely!

Caught some tiny dabs in my crab traps at HMB right by the harbor, but I think Joel is right and ya should head to MBK.  Head out to 100-120 FOW and we were slaying them every time we went this past year.  Good luck, and have fun!
