We just got in the first rod pod console in for the Eddyline Caribbean 14. To be honest we had our doubts about water integrity with the low design, however it past our first test with flying colors. We still need to take it to the surf to see how it does, but the preliminary test were pretty impressive.

I decided to cut the center hatch on the Caribbean 14 all the way open and turn it into a true Rod Pod. The seal on Eddylines hatch is incredible. We filled the cockpit full of water and let is sit for 30 mins and it only got a couple cups of water. I would be more than comfortable taking this to the ocean and playing in the surf. There is talk about an optional insert with a bucket for those who want more space but not need the in hull access. Its all up in the air for now, but I will let you know how things progress. For now celebrate the fact that we have a bad ass ocean going boat with a rod pod at 50lbs! Below is a photo of the cut rod pod. Check out our water test and see what you think.

Very nice...thanks for the test footage.
The cover is optional I take it? Looks like some built in foam. For support or added flotation? maybe both.
Looks like lots of room for noodles as well. :smt001
Can I ask what the retail is?

Looking forward to the surf test. :smt006

Sure thing. $1679 with seat, but the Pod is extra, or It can come as a angler package, with Rod holders and console, but I get all mine bare so I can help someone rig their boat for their exact style of fishing. The foam is throughout the boat to create stiffness and add flotation. I can't wait to take it to the ocean. Vwool and I will probably plan a trip to crab and do some more testing. Not sure if he is ready for me to cut a hole in his kayak yet.
