Right on Guys,

  San Pablo....  :smt012

when does that Mudhole Open?

It would be convient,  just they have coniptions about contact with water and fishing there can be crappy, especially near opening day...

Del Valle has that nice area to get people into to the water and maybe use of Sunrise rentals...  as much as I would like to keep this small,  there is just too many troops that want to get out and people who want to help...

Lets start to wind this up...  I probably won't be able to get more organnized till next week, getting my new Mac and hopefully transferring everything to that,

I might have to build everything from scratch, which will suck, please be patient, I will pick a date next week and will know more about how many we will take out, just going to start calling these guys.

Get back to ya all soon.

Don you said earlier that you were looking for some of the newer volunteers to help out, but if you need me just send me a message and i will be there unless my work doesn't allow me to.

You have been Extremely Helpful Ben and I hope to see at every single event.....

I hope I'm not giving the appearance of slimming this down to a select amount of people, that is not it at all...  we can use everyone that wants to help,  it just gets complicated, especially as i deal more with bureaucracy. As far as the " new " volunteers, they are people who want to help that came from the news paper article, who are not kayak fisherpeople, or some who don't even fish, and I want to use more of them for " support..."  food, etc...

I think it's going to be tough to go small too, just to many contacts and people who want to be involved. I was just talking with Jon Walton at Walton's pond, and he feels a Nice Spotted bass hunt would be a good target for early February, that maybe puts us at Berryessa or Almador,

or maybe just go with the easier gig and try for trout at Del Valle, logistics are great there.  I feel the problem with San Pablo Reservoir would be good shore access to get Vets in and out of the water...  suggestions?

I've actually never been to san pablo so i don't know anything about the  shore access situation. I think we should have it where ever is the best likelihood of catching fish that is also close enough and accessible for the vets to get to.

So Del Valle is out? Hahaha, the bite there for boats is still a little slow right now from what I hear..I wouldn't mind one of the other east bay lakes, but after 3 successive skunks at DV, I am not convinced there's any fish in there.

Some of the boys suggested crabbing at Doran. Crab counts are down, but good enough for a nice lunch.

And a big no to amador.  Those guys rarely give discounts for anything, we'd be lucky to get into there at a cost of $15/vet.  Also not so great for places to dock 10+ kayaks.  not enough flat areas for volunteers to set up.  The few barbecue areas are uphill from the water so they would be hard for the vets to get to from the water.

As far as trout trolling, Quarry and Shadow Cliffs would be my choice in January. Quarry is a nicer venue and is good for wheelchairs. Quarry is also very dog friendly.  :smt003

No they have to be on leash. Only DV allows dogs off leash north of the Marina. Quarry does allow dogs on yaks unlike San Pablo and Lafayette. Molly likes Quarry because the ranger gives her a biscuit.   :smt005 She also likes meeting other dogs on the walk around the lake. There is a wheelchair access beach and fishing pier and a covered picnick area. Doran is also dog friendly but on leash also.

It would be really cool to take them out crabbin' at doran sometime too. We could set a bunch of pots the night before and be sure to have lots o' crab when they pulled them up. The launch there is as easy as any lake and they have good picnic sites and handicap bathrooms.
