Any of you guys ever try stripers at Pacifica or any of the other beaches around there?
I've seen days where they were just out of reach from shore and saw private boats pulling them in (as well as salmon and halibut) when the 'chovies came in.
Just wondering...

I tried a few weeks ago.  I was marking something on my FF but I don't know if it was bait...

I will try again in June.

Tuesday around noon, SteveS and I tried surfcasting at Mori Point, Rockaway, and Linda Mar beaches.... but the big wind made for lousy conditions with lots of weeds and garbage mixed in the surf.  We brought our kayaks just in case it the weather turned out nice and there were birds working further out.... but that was not the case.  There were BIG whitecaps out as far as you could see -- a real kayaking nightmare if you could even make it past the surf.

We were late by one day for the hot striper bite.  We talked to an old timer at Rockaway and he said he saw a number of nice stripers to 32" caught there Monday during lunch.

On Coastside somebody just reported fish caught at HMB State Beach so it sounds like they're probably scattered all over the coast. I'm not a striper-eater but I might go scouting next week anyway. I haven't fished them since about 92 when there were those big runs in front of Miramar Inn.

Hey Chuck -

That's me on the above post. The stripers are looking pretty tempting - I might even forgo a salmon trip for it and scout the local inshore instead. It'd be all for the sake of give-away fish but being on the back of the surf ramps up the excitement factor and sometimes the salmon are mixed in with the general chaos.

Unfortunately nothing is happening for me til next week.

See you out there
