Hello everyone! Its been a while since I've posted here but I have a question for everyone: Have any of you had any luck using live shore crabs as bait? I tried it recently without much success (video below). Any suggestions???

Thanks!
Adam

Gave sturgeon a try from the kayak for the first time and I think this species is officially at the top of my list now. Fishing was tough but I was able to play tug of war with a powerful cousin of the sturgeon. Big shoutout to Matt (Baron) for showing us the rope! I will be back...

Hey guys, hope this video provides a little entertainment and reminds all that boat/kayak safety is no joke. Always be aware of your surroundings. Lucky that nobody was hurt out there. Thanks to everyone who helped and checked to make sure everything was ok. A lot of knowledgeable and helpful people on this board and I am grateful for that. Stay safe out there and tight lines!

Hey fellow kayak anglers. Took the kayak out for a quick crab/rockfish combo in Half Moon Bay in between all the bad weather we have been getting. Dropped two pots and then headed out in search of a ling near the green can. No luck on the lingcod so went back in to salvage the day with some crab. One pot was loaded and the other didn't have any... I don't know for sure if it was poached but does seem pretty fishy. Here is the video report from the day:

Hookups and Fishing Reports (Viewable by Public) / Christmas Crabs!!!!
« on: December 26, 2018, 12:22:16 PM »
Took a trip out last weekend to get a few dungies for the family on Christmas. It was a quick trip and only had time for a 3 hour soak but did pretty well. Got 6 dungies and 3 rocks. Tried a unique style of baiting once again but it didn’t quite turn out as I hoped :smt002 Full report and video here:

Second part to this day (fishing portion) coming later this week! Merry Christmas!!!

Looking for some sweet fishing gear to add to your wish list this holiday season? Here are some ideas:

Anything I missed that I should be requesting?

Took out the kayak in search of some crabs at HMB earlier this week. In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I thought I would try out some turkey as bait. Instead, I ended up feeding all the crabs out there. I ended up bringing home 3 keepers but you’ll have to watch the video for the full story.

I know this isn't a kayak report but I thought you guys might enjoy watching me hop around on the rocks and finally land a solid striped bass from the surf. I caught on the outgoing tide around 11am in the morning last weekend. More details in the video. I'm on a little bit of a roll after catching my PB Salmon on my previous out. That video is also live on the channel. Enjoy!

Hope to get back out on the kayak again soon!

It has been a long time coming but I finally landed my first Salmon of 2018, and from the kayak! I just got the down rigger for the kayak and it worked perfectly! I am sure everyone here has more experience with it so feel free to shoot me any tips you have! I have heard switching the downrigger cable to braid helps. Is it worth switching out? Any advice is greatly appreciated! Here is the video!!!

Ish With Fish and I were on a scouting mission on some water that neither of us have ever fished before. On some advise from friends, we had heard this area was good for halibut and striped bass so we had our hopes high. It didn't take long to find out this was true. As you will see in the video, I didn't exactly catch the fish the way I had planned. All in all, another fun day out on the water.

I will be back again soon to get that keeper!

Hooked up with one of my buddies and his son to try to find some late season rainbow trout from Shadow Cliffs. Fishing was pretty slow overall but did manage to land one solid fish around 5 pounds. Let our special guest reel in this fish which made for an exciting conclusion to our otherwise slow day on the water. Check out the full video here along with the cooking portion:

Looking forward to getting out for salmon again soon! Someone tell these fish to come within paddling range!

It was a quick trip out in the old faithful Hobie Outback on the first week of rockfish season in Central California(South of Pigeon Point). As I said in the video, bait can be hard to find early in the season but I did manage to find a few willing baitfish that were then gobbled up by some unexacting Lingcod. I fished 50-60 feet of water and was able to catch my fish and get off the water before the wind picked up around noon. This is just the beginning of peak fishing season here in the Bay Area. Striped Bass, Halibut, Salmon, and Lingcod are just a few of the target species coming up soon on the channel. Thanks for watching! If you liked the video, please leave a like and share with your Die Hard Fishing buddies! Thank you for your support!

Hope to see some of you out on the water this year!

First time out crab snaring by myself with one goal in mind: Catch a Keeper Crab. Not only did we do that, we got some cool underwater footage to see what really goes on under the water. If you liked this video, I would appreciate it if you could share it with your friends. If this video is successful, I will do more underwater videos!

Counting down the days till rockfish/salmon! Who is skipping Easter festivities to go chase some sea dragons?

I was trying to wait for a good weather day to do a catch and cook out on the beach. Well, that didn't work out but had a fun day out on the beach anyway. Fishing was a little slow but I did catch a striper and a quality surfperch to use for my beach barbecue in the rain. Comment below what fish you would like to see for the next catch and cook!

Thanks for watching! Rockfish season right around the corner!
