General Fishing Tips / Re: Neoprene Wrist Gasket Replacement
« on: April 15, 2024, 09:28:09 PM »
I was extremely reluctant to get a drysuit, as I've always had issues with latex rubber gloves. If I put on latex gloves, my hands turn red and skin gets itchy, and worse. So, when I got my first drysuit, I was planning on replacing the wrist gaskets, but miraculously, the latex wrist gaskets on my Kokatat (semi)drysuit don't seem to bother my skin.

Anyways, are there silicone rubber wrist gaskets? I seem to recall seeing some when I was thinking that I'd need to replace my wrist gaskets.

Yes, there are silicon wrist gaskets.
I am not experienced.

This was what Kokatat recommended;

Thank you for your interest in Kokatat.
Our semi dry Supernova Angler Suit does not have a latex neck gasket but is does have latex wrist gaskets. While Kokatat does not have alternative materials for our gaskets there are 3rd party latex alternatives on the market that can be used in DIY replacement applications.

Paul

I did see the silicone gasket but they are pricey for just the jacket. Maybe I'll try the silicone for my future semi dry suit.

The NRS Champion Jacket comes with neoprene wrist gaskets.  I own one and really like them.
The neoprene gaskets prevents water going to your arms. Not as waterproof as latex but good enough. This me wearing one. https://www.norcalkayakanglers.com/index.php?topic=101802.0

It's a good looking jacket. Unfortunately I cannot return my jacket and I want to learn how to replace the gasket hehe.

What jacket do you own?

I have a kokotat tempest jacket. I really like the jacket except the latex gasket.

After seeing Eddie's LockRack, I wanted to try it out for myself.
I've used it for 2 trips. Both trips involving freeways speed and very windy road.
So far it's working flawlessly.
I had to put extra padding down for my AI for better fit due to the hull shape but for my stealth and my poor man's tarpon 120 (upside down),  it's perfect.

Try this one: https://expressdrysuitrepair.com/repair-services

Thank you. I don't see the neoprene wrist gasket for sale on the website but since they do neoprene replacement service I'll ask them if they are willing sell me a pair.

General Fishing Tips / Neoprene Wrist Gasket Replacement
« on: April 15, 2024, 11:04:04 AM »
I need some advise on replacing latex wrist gasket to neoprene gasket.
I recently got a semi dry jacket with latex wrist gasket which I need to replace with neoprene gasket due to latex allergy.
I tried out the jacket yesterday after not getting exposed to latex for nearly 20 years and yes, I still have latex allergy LOL.
I looked for neoprene gasket but only ones I found was from UK on ebay. Do you know anywhere else I can get a pair of neoprene gasket?
I'm thinking of using aquaseal to replace them. Is there a better way?

Thanks in advance.

Mile Buoy to stay!

Quote

Through the collaborative efforts of stakeholders and the positive engagement from the Santa Cruz maritime community, the Coast Guard made the decision not to remove the Santa Cruz Lighted Buoy SC (LLNR 4080).

“This decision underscores our commitment to prioritizing safety while ensuring that the voices of the community are heard and considered,” said Capt. Steven Ramassini, chief, Coast Guard Office of Navigation Systems.
