Nice dungies. Anyone know if the pier is still shoulder to shoulder?

I think I was a crab in my past life  :smt003 Thank you guys for the support.  For the crimping sleeves I use a 1.2 size aluminum sleeve by Billfisher.  I pair it with 80 lb hard nylon ROCK leader material by Mason.  Most tackle shops will carry both items.

Went out last week to the same spot in Pacifica and made a catch and cook video.  Brought the kayak this time and had a fun day on the water.  2-3 hour soak and ended the day with 8 males.  My best day so far.  The people using snares on the beach seem to be catching more than usual right now too.

Thanks for the great reports, MackoNick.

You mentioned the smelt were thick near the beach. Were those surf smelt, a.k.a. day smelt? Was anyone netting them? I’ve wanted to catch some surf smelt, but it sounds like there haven’t been good runs for a while.
Wanted to buy: Stealth ProFisha 575 or 525

They were baby Jack smelt!  I've never seen a smelt caught at that spot before until that day.  And I go fishing there a lot.  They must have spawned locally because there were thousands of them in the water and many washed up on the shore.  They were snagging them with swimbaits! Doubtful they are still there though.

You could have easily cast netted them.  People were crab snaring from the beach and spooking big schools of them.  They were jumping out of the way of the snare as they were reeling in.  You could see how many of them there were out there.

Nice work, Nick.  I subbed on your YouTube channel last week.  Watching all your crab videos at Pacifica has me wondering about that spot for halibut...  Need to drag a swimbait around between pulling pots, I think.

I'll get right on it and do some R&D  :smt003 . I've seen sand dabs in the area before.  Its such a big area I'm not sure where to start so I haven't tried.  I appreciate your support.
