Kiene's bugfest. Kiene's Flyshot will be having their first forum get together at Bethel Island at Lundbords. there will be seminars and Barbeque. More info when  later.
If you want several versions of the event.  Check out the post on Kiene's fly shop forum (The fishing was HOT today at Sandmound) in the warm water section. If you have trouble finding it  their logo is on my page.
It was a great time and it will be happing again I believe in OCT.

Why Do I paddle a kayak instead of a float tube or a pontoon boat? I like seeing where I'm going not where I've been!
Paddle safe and wrap'em tight.

Looking forward to more details though a fair number of lfy-fishign boaters have discouraged me from kayaking in the Delta for sfety reasons (not water but concerns over boaters and alcohol). Still I'm interested in learning more. there msut be some reasonably safe places to kayak.

Hey surfingmarmot , Drunk boaters on the Delta definitely! dangerous hell yes! I spend a lot of my time on the water at Millerton Lake which I've done for years.Watching out for boaters is not mention the safe to do but part of the situation and now comes second nature. All the marinas up and down Bethel Island are seperated by the wall which has a few holes in for access to the open water. Now each marina has a bar or a store where alcoholic beverages can be had easily there for making it easy for boaters to get drunk on the delta. When I launch my yak I paddle as fast as I can t get out  of that area between the wall and the marinas and it is no place to be at the end of the day when all the drunk boaters are coming back in. There are places on the Delta where a yak can go and a boat can't at least not very fast. In short the Delta is consider one of the best bass fisheries in the world stripers and large mouth and in my opinion worth learning your way around.

Did this event occur?  Report?

Re drunk boaters - yep, and even more reckless ones.

They are on every body of water but the tight quarters and blind turns in the Delta create more potential problems.  My solution: defensive boating, a good sound warning device readliy at hand, and most importantly - out early and in early.

The Delta is a scenic and productive fishery well worth the effort to know.  Be safe and have fun!

Can't argue about the quality of the Bass fishery, though the Striper fishery is dying quickly due to water reductions unfortunately--a casualty of a burgeoning human population and development as well as thirsty agribusiness. I'll have to leanr it one of these days. SO many palces, so little time.

Hey surfingmarmont, The development that's happing around the Delta is damn scary. I returned after a year witout going there and I almost couldn't find my  way to Bethel Island. Once out on the Delta I forget about it all. Although I sure like to discover or photograph a couple of endangered species besides the Delta.
It worked on a body water years ago but only for a while.
Don, I made a report in the fishing reports I think
