How tight should a farmer john wetsuit be?

I tried on a pair at Aquan, the medium felt a little tight, especially around the calves.  The large felt better, it was not as constricting, but it was too long.  The employee said I probably needed a short large.

I'm thinking that it doesn't have to be tight, since I should be out of the water most of the time.

Not tight but snug is KEY. Make sure you get the Kokatat brand over the oneil. The Oneils don't have the relief zipper on the front.
