Hit up a spot in Sur with good buddies Steve and Bryan.

Plan A didn't work out for us, but spotted a cool looking area off in distance so paddled over to check it out...

Steve stumbled on a killer system of cracks and caves and pulled a solid 22+ inch Red out...

Then I found a 23.5 inch Cab and shot her right through the eyes...

While I am stringing her up on yak I hear Steve ask for a spot to wiggle way back into the caves to get a Ling...

I jump back in and swim over but by the time I get there he had found an easier way to get the Ling and had already taken her...beautiful, golden, meaty 34+ incher.

Moved to another area and I found a nice 26 inch Ling that I lit up for Bryan to shoot...his biggest so far!!

I found a chunky grassy and took it for DOTY upgrade points:

Worked out a little deeper and drop to check out a cave and there is a nice fat red head in there looking at me...line up my shot and the Red turns away taking away my good head shot...oh well, blast her right by the pec fin anyway.  :smt005

Not my biggest of the year at 20.5 inches, but still a nice fish and I am always stoked when I get a Red.

Moved to try another spot, but didn't really find anything we wanted so made the long paddle back to shore, took some pics and drank a few beers before heading out.

I drove straight to Bakersfield, filleted the fish and fed the extended family a yummy Christmas eve lunch of baked heads and collars and steaked Cabbie, fried belly meat, and fish tacos.

Here's some pics and a quick IG edit:

Sounds like a great day out there! Congrats on a big fish haul! Impressed you launched in Big Sur as there don't seem to be many access points, especially if you are trying to avoid climbing back up to a bluff. Amazing weather conditions before Christmas, can't believe there were three nice dive days in a single week. Way to slay 'em!  BTW: thanks for all the cooking tips!
