Yakima Hully Rollers an move the rear bars as far back as possible....

Mine weighs a ton with the install I did and I have a bad back, but still able to top load it by myself on my truck...

This was my solution -- cheap and simple, works for me.

Have you installed handles on the sides of the kayak yet?

My truck has rollers. Makes it easy and fast. Did I mention I made them myself out of PVC.

I just throw my outback on top of my truck. No problem even at my age!

Have you guys ever tried to pick up a kayak without side-handles, by yourself? I have and it sucks. You feel like a monkey humping a football. It sounds like he is asking about installing some handles on the sides... I'll post some pics later--installed side handles on my old Malibu 2 tandem.

Yakima load assist bars will help even without side handles.

side handles are key in a lot of situations.
I use a "hully roller" from Yakima, which is really just a spendy version of what jweb posted. Rollers work great for me.

but, yeah, side handles. kayaks never have enough handles on them.

yah my biggest problem I'm having a hard time gripping anything on the kayak to load it onto my car.
i can easily lift 70 LBS but its 70LBS that is not proportional from left to right of the kayak.
is install more handles on the kayak the only way to have more support while lifting it up?
