Wanted To Buy / WTB: Thule 65" load bars
« on: January 21, 2024, 08:00:56 AM »
Hi all.

Wondering if anyone has the 65" load bars from Thule laying around - they are discontinued. Looking to buy some to have a wider roof rack for more options for kayaks and other gear up top.

Let me know!

Dave

General Fishing Tips / Ambush nets on kayak?
« on: December 27, 2022, 06:29:12 AM »
Hi all.

Searched the forums but didn't find anything on this. I'm used to using old flat ring nets on the kayak, and can easily stack four of them, with bait, lines, and floats in front of me on my paddle kayak (Viking Profish). Seems like everyone is going over to the ambush nets, which makes sense to me in terms of somewhat constraining the crabs in the net.

A couple questions:
  • Is it easy to stack the ambush nets on a kayak with ropes, floats, bait? Not quite sure how all that interacts with the raised ring portion. I assume with the bottom (third) ring section it can nest down somewhat?
  • Are people using the 32" or 36" off a kayak? I assume the smaller one? My crabbing is typically in 25-40' of water.
