Hey All,

I'm contemplating a WS Pungo 140.  There are many lakes down here in San Diego that I can't fish on a SOT.  I'm thinking a Pungo 140 would be big enough and comfortable enough to get out and fish these lakes.

BTW I'm 6'4" 230lbs

Any thoughts on this or another sit inside that might work better?

And I'm assuming you can't fish a sit on top in those lakes since they're no contact?  Would a canoe style boat work? Native sells those and they would be more comfortable than a SIK and are purpose built for fishing.

What is the reason for the sit inside? Non-cantact waters? If so, the Pungo is a good paddling boat. The cockpit is pretty good sized for a sit inside. Very durable boat. You might want to look at a Commander 120-140 too. Paddles like a kayak but more laid out like a canoe. A ton of room inside for gear. Very good boat too. Not a lot of them out here on this coast. More guys use them back east in the swamps and skinny water. My buddy has a sit inside and is around your weight, but a few inches shorter. He used his kayak for a long time and liked it. Hunting and fishing. He just got a Tarpon 140 and still has the SIK. If you need more Wilderness info just ask me. Not too many guys around here have SIK's, but the guys I know that do have Wilderness boats.

I still have a pungo 140 and love it.  Its fast, dry and has lots of cockpit room.
Primary stability on mine (2005) is a little lacking but the secondary is great!
Less Mental than before, Still savage AF tho <3

Thanks everyone,

Leaning a little stronger towards the Pungo 140....however, a friend is really pushing for the Commander.

I agree with Rob, pungo 140 is a great all around yak.  It has lots of room for bigger paddlers and full phase 3 seat and will give plenty of stability for fishing. The commander is also a good choice for storage room.  The pungo will be a fast boat if that's what your looking for.
