My wife and I have friends who are missionaries in Haiti. They are partnered with a school and orphanage and are meeting lots of need down there. Their old Nissan pathfinder is dying on its feet and even on its best days is guzzling gas.

I'm trying to find a cheap legacy or outback (Ideally 1995-1999) that I can fix up for them. My wife and I are committed to donating a vehicle to them and the Subaru would fit the bill perfectly with all wheel drive, cargo space of a wagon and good ground clearance for the rough roads down there.

Looking for an under $1000. car. Something like a 90s outback with  blown head gaskets or a bad transmission would be ideal. I've bought a couple of these over the years helping local friends obtain reliable transportation cheap. But I'd like to have this one ready to go by january and have a long list of things I'd like to do to it before I take it to Miami.

Just a shot in the dark, but if you see one, know of one or have one collecting dust, it would go to great use.

Thanks for the tip. I contacted that one, but ended up buying a different one tonight a little closer to home.

96 outback with 79k in pretty good shape. has the ideal motor. Just needs a few maintenance items and the build is on!
