Craftsmen's Corner / Tried my hand at airbrushing crank baits
« on: January 19, 2019, 04:00:21 PM »
As many of you know I’ve been pouring lead for a few years. Getting kinda bored with it so I thought it switch it up and give crank baits a go. Needless to say it worked out great and I’m super impressed and amazed at how my first try went. I didn’t want to invest much since I wasn’t sure I could produce any good results. I used the cheapest paint from Walmart at $.50 to $2.00 a bottle and a cheap $30. Amazon airbrush. After painting a couple blanks it looks like I might invest in some quality supplies now.

General Talk / Lead head collar/barb question
« on: August 23, 2018, 01:24:22 PM »
Would a ball type collar on a lead head be more likely to split a swim bait than a traditional barbed type? Modifying an old mold I had laying around and I'm not sure which style collar to make it. Thanks for any input.

General Talk / For those of you familiar with the hwy108 corridor
« on: August 06, 2018, 10:15:19 AM »
It's burning up ,yesterday a fire that started at the donnell inlet made its way east. The clarks fork, brightman and dardenelles area have been consumed. Hopefully they can get a handle on it before it makes its way to Kennedy meadows.

Fish ID sub-forum / Brookie or brown?
« on: January 27, 2018, 05:20:11 PM »
At melones a huge school of juvenile trout have shown up at the 49 access. I have been catching dozens of browns. I went back out this morning and caught a bunch more but I only snapped one picture. I wasn't even paying attention just figuring it was just another brown. when I looked back at the pic this evening I think this one might have been a brookie. Looks like blue halos around the orange dots and if you zoom in it looks like wormy lines on the fin and possibly the back.
Would they have planted brooks and browns together?

For Sale / Sold
« on: January 03, 2018, 11:50:34 AM »
I bought this kayak as a lot deal with another kayak. I already have a t15 so I don't need this one.
It has spent a little  time outside and has some light fading. As a result the side grab handles need to be replaced as well as some of the bungee cords.
Included is a hummingbird 580 with gps and scupper transducer. It has two Scotty compact flush mounts just in front of the rod pod.
I will get better pics in a couple of days when I have some time.
Not included is the rudder, sliding foot braces,or seat.

General Talk / Wheeleez help!!! Anyone ever lube the wheels?
« on: December 30, 2017, 04:26:31 PM »
After 6 years I've finally got a set of wheeleez, well actually they are old roleez. They have been sitting for years the bearings are tight and crunchy. I'm hoping it's because they have been sitting for so long.
Has anyone lubed theirs? Any ideas on something to use that won't just be a sand magnet? The felt seals are there and intact. Tried google to no avail

Kayaks / Expanding my fleet to include an original p15
« on: December 29, 2017, 05:33:11 PM »
My fleet now sits at 5. A pelican 10' for my son. My Jackson cuda 14 and my brand new old year style 2016 t15. But today I added another t15 (which will be for sale soon don't need two) and a 2005 prowler 15. I can't wait to test out the old p15 I've heard so much about them just haven't had the opportunity to paddle one until now.
I also finally got a set of wheeleez so I get to find out what all that hype is about as well. I scored the full size and the mini. Anyone ever use the mini? Will they work at all?

Ocean Kayaks / Good by cuda hello trident!!!
« on: November 23, 2017, 07:44:51 PM »
Stoked to be getting out of my Jackson that I've been paddling since 2012 and pulled the the trigger on a new 2016 trident 15. Steep and cheap cleared them out at $599. So I just had to jump on the deal.
I can't wait to get out and see how this boat does in the slop. I was pretty happy with my cuda until simply fishing 3yrs ago I spent more time trying not to turtle than I did fishing. The following year I borrowed tw's t13 and absolutely fell in love with that boat. So after watching for deals and them all showing up when I couldn't grab them, this fell into my lap just at the right time.

For Sale / Beginner fly set up cheap!!
« on: August 22, 2017, 08:53:04 AM »
If anyone wanted to take a shot at fly fishing but doesn't want to spend a lot. This is a great deal. The reel is not the one described but is the one pictured just a basic standard arbor.
I purchased this last week for 129. It came with the wrong reel and no case. I contacted them and received the correct weight reel but still no case and a big discount. They made it right on their mistake, and have now lowered the price by half. The rod is pretty basic but a nice beginner rod and also carries the tfo life time replacement warranty.
