I think we all owe a great big thank you to ravensblack and everyone else who contributed to this event. It was amazing.

Even my wife who's not big on camping said she had a great time. The kids were constantly busy having fun. I had a blast fishing even with the less than perfect sea conditions and it felt like a second home with everyone in camp.  What a great group of people. We'll definitely be back.

Thanks to everyone for an amazing weekend.  :smt006

Thank you Craig and Linelle for hosting an incredible event.
Congratulations to Fishworks916, Rockroach, MontanaN8V for outfishing everyone in those ugly conditions.
Thanks to my GF Becky for preparing the tiki bar and Scott for finishing it up. And Scott, Denise, John and Lisa for all their great food and fantastic campsite additions.
I was first to launch in the dark; light on front of the yak and headlamp facing backwards.
I got about to the middle of the cove and took a wave to the chest. That sucked. Paddled to just outside the cove and let me tell you, I have never been scared on my yak....until I got just outside the cove. Alone and still a little dark looking at big faces and really mixed swell had me turn around. A couple of times I felt like I was going to pearl some of the faces were so steep. I safely and fortunately made it out of the slop and tucked into the north side of the cove.
Don D wasn't too far behind. He started out then tucked into the north side as well. A lot of us did. Tommy and I chilled back for quite a while. But as the outgoing tide came close to an end the seas mellowed out a little....just a little. I met Relentless near the whistle buoy and we headed south near Bull Rock. Marked a lot of fish but really had to pay attention to where we were drifting. I got two underlings but Dave was doing much better. Nothing big but consistent. The wind picked up and we were outta there.
Fished inside and got an undersized cabby and a greenling that came unbuttoned right at the yak.
I fished hard but couldn't get anything to make a run at it.
The seas were rough and the fishing was hard but camp made up for it.
Nothing beats the friendships, old and new, like the ones at NCKA.
Becky set up a tiki bar at camp. All anyone had to do was show up for all the margaritas you wanted.
We went through 9 bottles of Jose Cuervo Gold and one bottle of Cazadores compliments of Kingfisher.
We also went through 4 dozen oysters shoters for those lucky enough to show up at the right time.
The potluck was incredible as always.
It was great to turn on some non NCKA friends of mine to how we roll. They had a blast.
Thank you to everyone for making this the kind of event I want to come back to year after year after year.
Can't wait until next year.

First pic is my friend Jimbo with a 1st aid kit from the raffle, who with his wife Kat, flipped out at the buoy, thank you everyone for switching into rescue mode, couldnt ask for better asstst out there -Shawn and Shimmy were on them like scales on a fish.... I should have stuck to them like glue and wont make the same mistake again.... they did great, learned a lot and are going to take the surf class at MBK soon. Anyway they are hooked to the sport now and Jim even came up with his own new NCKA handle- Dunk!
Thanks everyone for making this what it is- a big fun family! Lots of work went into this from everyone but the #1 goes to Craig.

CONGRATS to Fishworks916, Rockroach, MontanaN8V, and Christina.  It's so cool to see new faces on the podium.

BIG KUDOS to Ravensblack, Linelle, Kayak Jack, and Spike for there organizing efforts.
THANKS to the many generous Albion sponsors.
THANKS again to Craig for inviting me to set up camp near his trailer.

It was great seeing old friends and making new ones.  Albion is fast becoming like kayak fishing's version of "Woodstock" or "Burning Man".  It's so fun making the rounds and visiting all of the different camps.

Here are pics of the potluck venue and fry station.

What a GREAT weekend!!!!!!!!!!

The catching fish part for me was not very good, but the company, location, food, drinks, diving and festivities more than made up for it!!

First of all...HUGE thank you to Craig and Linelle!!! You guys put on a top-notch event, and it was an absolute pleasure to meet and chat with you!!

 :smt006

So many good times and memories!!

First night crabbing on the dock until 2am with the A-Hulls and KneeToe!! Got 3 keepers!! My first dungies EVER!! SO COOL seeing the crabring so full of crabs!! I wanted to eat them ALL!!!!  :smt002 :smt005

Love those A-Hulls...so happy to have met you guys and feel so lucky that we get to hang together...you and your families are top-notch all the way!! Porky, thanks again for letting crash in the site bro!!

 :smt006

Early start Friday AM to go with MontanaN8V and fam, GN and fam, FM1 and fam, FishWrapper and fam, out on a charter from Noyo...super cool seeing teh kids and ladies pulling up the fish!! I got 2 nice Chinas (my first Chinas ever!!), 2 nice blues, and a beautiful goldeneye (or canary can't remember) that posed for a pic and swam back just fine!! THANK YOU Rich for putting this on and donating the $$ to Joel!!

Friday afternoon..cleaned my fish and FM1 Family's fish then jumped in the water and dove around out front just for fun and hoping for some uni or to shoot a fish...nothing doing, but super cool to be out there!! Then hooked up with Joe/BloodBath and dove in the river for Crab!! So fun flying in the current!! Got one more nice fat Dungie for the pot!!!

Friday night....little blurry!!! I blame Tote's margaritas and hooch (man, I knew I should have stayed away from that crap!!). So many campfires and so much good food...great times!!

Saturday...man it was rough (at least for me!!) started out with Porky and battled out to the buoy area...got a nice China and a Rosy that I used for bait (unsuccessfully), then hung out with Dr. Hab, then Guitarzan, then moved inside and found Lapu Lapu and worked the washrocks and inlets...no love for me...most action was when I got either two twin underlings on consecutive drops or the same booger grabbed my swim bait on his way back down!!  :smt005

Our champions: Ricci and Christina!!!!!!!!  WTG!!!!!!!!!  Super great folks!! Really enjoyed meeting you guys!!!!!!!!!!

Watson 831 in the house yo!!  :smt002 :smt044

Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy, who also is a HELL of a great fisherman...nice work buddy, really looking forward to fishing with you in the future!!

RockRoach...helluva good job in those conditions buddy!! Congrats!!

Rich...so stoked for you bro!!!!! And you giving the side bet $$ to Joel...you are a class act all the way and I am proud to call you and Gabe my friends!!

 :smt006

Spike's raffle...amazing!!

Silent Auction....got KayakJack's AbSnatcher Board!!!!!!!!!!

:smt007 :smt007 :smt007 :smt007

PROUD to own that piece of art and will do my best to cover it in quality ab slime and fish blood as often as possible!! THANK YOU Jack!!!

 :smt006

Don't worry fellas, Joel and I worked out payment already and it didn't even involve a hobbit foot massage!!!!!  :smt002 :smt005 :smt044

PotLuck...DUDE!!!!!! So much good food!! Did a cool taste-off between Christina's ceviche and Jedmo's...both so good and so different...determined the winner was both combined together in one bowl!! Then the night-time stagger...back to MargaritaVille for libations and oysters...HEAVENLY!! Great to meet you Tote and thanks again for sharing the drinks, food, and dive suggestions!!

Sunday...AbDiving with BaitnBeer, El Dorado, Daviator, Dr. Hab, Jedmo and his brother in Law...vis was not perfect, but good enough!! Andy, great diving with you bro and was cool to work together and spot abs and mark them with the floatline!! Let's do it again soon!!

Got three between 8.25 and 8.75, and a FAT Urchin...good enough for me!!!

Gave one Ab to Joel cuz he's the man, and the only person Ana would ever let me give one away to!!  :smt002 :smt005

Mooch, so cool hanging with you again and THANK YOU for the beautiful plaque for Ana and I...please do not hesitate to let me know if there is ever anything we can do for you.

 :smt006

Thanks again to EVERYBODY!!!!!!!!!

Funniest quote:

"If you want someone to catch something, throw it at their p#@&$%."

I almost gave Mooch a heart attack on the way home, but I'll let him tell it...  when he recovers.

No fish for me, but I found a patch of urchins on a rock about 3 feet deep.  Hopped out and picked a few to share with Joe, Janis, Juan, Jim, and a few others who's names don't start with J.

GREAT WEEKEND!!

I had a great time, this being my first tournament and all.  Too bad I couldn't get that Clavey's gift certificate (1-2 fish short)...but next time.  Great job to the winners, esp. #2, cuz he's my man  ;-)...but really, CONGRATS to all 3!  This group is a great crowd to be around & they do great things, for seemingly great people (Mooch)!!  Craig & Linelle-you guys are awesome for putting this whole thing together.  It turned out awesome, & you should be proud.

Can't wait for next year!

Another EPIC got together by the NCKA family. I personally want thank Craig, Linelle, sponsors and every single NCKA MEMBER that made the trip. With all the problems that we all face in this world that we live in, it's sooooo refreshing to spend an entire weekend with you all. I made it to camp (Thanks to Eric B for driving me but I didn't appreciate he fact that he almost killed - more on that later) and it was pure joy just to see our members slowly trickle in....seeing all the high fives, the hug, the handshakes and the first time introductions...even watching the dogs wag their tails and sniff each others butts was a sight one can only hope to experience every single day. Hell, If I was a dog, I'd be wagging my tail all weekend long :smt003 It was definitely a feel good moment. Gatherings like this is what I call a family reunion - and it really is. What was hard was seeing everyone leave on Sunday  :smt011 ....even my tail stopped wagging :smt009 Needless to say, I had a great time (was there ever an NCKA event that was never fun? I think NOT :smt002)

...but the feeling of that "great time" suddenly ended on the drive home with Eric B.....I'll let him tell the story. My personal message to Eric B. is this =  :smt075 :smt076 :smt093 :smt068 :smt062 :smt097

Congrats to all the tournament winners!!!

Thank you all for the generous donations. My family thanks you all as well!

Much love from da mooch :smt008

This was a fun weekend. Eric, Eddie and I had a great time.

A few words of thanks first:

Craig and Linelle... you both put a lot of time and effort into this event and it turned out great. Good job! Thank you so much.

Tote and Becky...the Tiki Lounge and margaritas rocked. You are both great hosts. Thank you for creating a comfortable place to hang out.

Our camp neighbors Chris and James...the boys and I enjoyed spending time with you both of you. Thank you for sharing your food, stories and friendship with us. A big thanks to James for giving the squid jig to Eric. The salmon he caught on that was the highlight of our trip. It was his first saltwater fish and truly the catch of a lifetime for the young man.

I could go on and on, so thank you to all the brothers and everyone else involved.

I took a bunch of pics. Here's a few. The others can be seen on my FB page.

Ok...

Mooch was complaining about my driving on the way up, just because a couple of overgrown bushes touched his mirror....  I had to hear about it all weekend, from several different sources...

So it was a long, boring drive home...  my mind got to wandering while Mooch started to nod off...  trying with little success to stifle a snicker, I kinda let my head roll forward, and while carefully keeping an eye on the road I let out a lil snore...  The snore woke Mooch up and I saw the fear of death in his eye as he slapped me.

I thought I took things a bit too far, and tried to apologise, but apologies are hard to accept when someone is laughing uncontrollably, and I understand that.

Silence for about 50 miles...  then around Santa Rosa finally Mooch breaks the silence...  "that was a good one, I admit...  You should swerved into the dirt, if you wanted to really get me good..."

 :smt044

Love ya, Brother!  I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me!

apparently Eric forgot to mention that the overgrown bushes that touched the passenger side mirror (where I was sitting) was a sure sign that we were about inches away from the end of the road and seconds away from rolling down the 100 foot ravine :smt011

as far as the ride home...a joke like that would have triggered a heart attack. Your lucky I don't have heart issues or I would have haunted you for the rest of your living life :smt045

Donna and I had a great time . We decided to stop at Pepperwood Pottery on 128 on the way in, and were blown away by the beauty of both the studios , property, and the talents fo Doug Johnson, the artist. Next year, if you're coming in on 128, Pepperwood is on the left right after the Rock Stop, about 15 miles before you hit Highway 1.

Craig and Linelle,

You 2 are an awesome team. Thank you VERY much for the most excellent tourney to date. Your organization skills are amazing.

Tote and Becky,

The Tiki Bar and Lounge rocked!! We really enjoyed hanging with you, Becky, John, Lisa, Scott and .... damn, forgot her name for the moment. Great stories, great food, and a breathalyzer test!! I passed, Donna failed.

EWB and I paddled out at around 7:00am into huge swells. We were fishing maybe 20 feet apart and for the most part couldn't see each other. He'd be up, I'd be down.We worked all around the buoy, then inside north wall, then southside wall nuthin but dinks...

The potluck was over the top as usual, with fantastic foods from everyone.

Great silent auction, raffle and thanks to all the sponsers and those who donated to the cause.

As a former victim of the moochcrybabycomplaintwagon I must say...

ahhhaaaahhhhahahahahahah..........hahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahashhahahahahhahahaaaaaaaaaa...............hahahahahhahahahhhahhahahahhahahahaaaa  :smt044

I first wanna thank craig and linelle for all there hard work and for putting this whole event together. U both did a fabulous job and i hope next year is just as fun or better! Of course it will be...I also wanna thank all the sponsors for their help and donations as Christina and i are truly grateful and appreciate everything. Congrats to Rockroach(marcos) and to MontanaNv8 for their Victories as well. Special shout outs to Jedmo and his whole family for letting us hang out with them and for the drinks, laughs, and the KILLER ADOBO, it was amazing,Bird(john) for help taking my new trident home for me just awesome,Eric for the great gaff, Ben(guitarzan) for the sick painting, Tiny(steve) for helping us out and for the company, Kirk(lilriverman) and his wife for the company and for the ginger, Tigerfish for the swimbaits, BigJim for the laughs, company, the ceviche taste competition, and uni this guy is just an animal when on the water WATSON BROTHER haha, BaitNBeer(andy) for the company and for introducing us to other fellow NCKA'ERS and homies, and as well to everybody else that was there who we did and didnt get to meet for your great company and hospitality. Everyone in NCKA ROCKS! And last but not least SUPER MUCH THANKS TO THE KAYAK FISHING LENGEND....MOOCH! It was here at albion that i got the great priviledge of meeting mooch and sooo glad i did! It was you bro and your blessing to me that early morning on the way out to launch that helped me win. Thanks brother!

As for the fishing, it was rough and tuff out there and water conditions were awful. But the weather was great and we all headed out in that washMachine of an ocean and made it happen. Fishing was slow indeed but i stayed on it hard and believed! Scoring a ling, a cab, and few gophers for me i guess was enough to seal the deal! All my fish were caught banging the metal against the bottom and were always tipped w/squid. No specific colors but two specific jigs.
And then there was the crabbing. I literally pulled up like 50 plus crabs for only two sets with only one crab trap. And out of that 50 only one keeper. Well at least it looks good for next years crabbing. All in all, Christina and I had soooo much fun and will be back next year for sure. To the whole NCKA BROTHERHOOD AND FROM YOUR 2010 ALBION OPEN CHAMPION, THANK YOU, FISHWORKS!

i had a blast , the fun just wouldnt stop , i made my rounds friday night and payed for it come game day...paddled out with IROELIKETHAT into some sloppy seas , didnt wet a line for about 20 minutes cuz i was tryna get acustomed to the motion. finally started gettin down while takin waves on the lap , gained alot more confidence in my yak though cuz it handled the waters like a champ , did my thing for about an hour and a half or untill i started diggin in my tackle tryna downgrade my offering , thats when the burps came!  :smt013 all the tequilla , beer & hooch mixed with all the food transformed into a vapor from hell! couldnt get myself back together after that so i paddled in thinkin i could regain myself after a trip to the bathroom and a bottle of water , found tigerfish at the launch tryna regain himself and when i told him of the burps i experienced he started losing his guts almost instantly! HA sorry bro
The day wasnt wasted though , hooked up with the river drift crew and went sight seeing along the albion river , really cool and relaxing even though the tide wouldnt flipp and we would have to paddle in against the wind and current , wasnt too bad though , i took my time , got back to base and the potluck was going full swing and it was amazing just as predicted  , craig that keg was nice too , i did my part! saturday night i made myself beleive that i was mellow and taking an easy on the drink but when i woke up people were tellin me an other story, i slept good anyways and woke up with BJ (HAHAH) , gabe and dave(flyfishingrow) along with drhabenaro for an early morning dive and got my abs. i need to work out! sundays dive killed me today at work , legs all sore , arms sore but i guess thats a good thing , need to work out my muscles more to get in shape.

TOTE....ur campsite rocked BTW

What a great weekend!

First, thanks to Craig and Linelle for hosting a fantastic event – well done my friends!

Thanks to Jack and Spike for all their work as well. And to all of the sponsors and folks who donated  prizes and supported the raffle.  Big shout out to Rich for setting-up the party boat gig on Friday – incredible!

Mooch – you da man!

Congrats to Ricci, Marcos, Rich and Christina – great job OTW!

Arrived about 10 PM on Wed evening.  OTW Thursday about 0900 – light wind, smaller swell then tourney day but same mixed and short period.  Fished around the cove opening on the south end for a few rockies then went trolling for salmon NW of the buoy based on some intel from PBers that had caught Kings the day before.  Trolled for a few hours, hooked a 6-7# silver, shook it off at the boat – no kings.  On Friday morning O2B and I tried to get out to go salmon fishing, we headed out of the cove but the swell had picked-up considerably so we decided against it and headed back to shore. Spent Friday visiting with friends and meeting new friends, enjoying the scene as everybody was arriving. Launched at dawn on Sat.  As reported, washing machine within the cove with some big waves breaking at the mouth around the low tide.  Paddled out to the buoy and fished to the north.  Short period swell with occasional 10 ft big sets rolling through.  Fishing was slow for me – 1 underling. Came in and enjoyed talking with Mickfish and EWB floating in the inner cove. Great time at the potluck and ceremony, all of the food was simply incredible, can’t get enough of Chuck and Glyn’s fried fish.  Highlight of the trip was doing some perchin’ with O2B on Sunday morning in the inner cove – laughing like 2 kids fishing with bobbers and red worms for bluegills. That was fun.

Trip home was a bit of a nightmare. Got caught in the end of the delay from the car that rolled off of Hwy 128. Then heading down Hwy 20 on the east side of Clear Lake, a car about 5 cars in front of me swerves across the line and clips the front drivers side corner of a PU coming the other way and closes down the road.  Thankfully not direct head-on collision and no apparent major injuries – both victims from the truck were taken in the ambulance with neck braces, of course the guy driving the car that caused the accident was fine.  Both vehicles totaled.

Another great NCKA hook-up – thanks everyone!.  Nothing like the vibe and spirit at an NCKA gathering!

Thanks to everyone that made this happen.  Also thanks to those that showed my family and me the hospitality and kindness that I've read so much about on this site.  This was our first NCKA event and we all had a great time (especially my daughters) whether fishing from the dock or doing cannon balls off the zodiac upriver.  Too bad we couldn't get a site at camp but we'll be better prepared for the next one.

To those people that I cut in front of at the pot luck line, I apologize.

I was at the beach looking at the conditions and the only thought I had was: "I know someone has got to be barfing..."   :smt003

You did an awesome job dude.Guitarzan and shimmy, you guys stepped up big time ,thank you. It was, however, the generosity and brotherhood of the common ncka folk that once again outshined all else. You are what makes these events great. Thank you. Speaking of generosity, what was the amount raised from this event for our brother in need? i think the auction raised about $400 and the raffle raised almost $1000. How did the numbers play out for the entry fees and shirts?

I havent got the final numbers yet for the event proceeds. We sold so much extra clothing I think I oversold. I have to make another order for some folks who werent there. I am hoping for at least 1500.00 to be going to Mooch. We had some expenses for sure but with the boat and other items donated that took a big load off. Final order for clothing will be on Friday. This week. The clothing basically paid for itself. We kept the cost down low to make it more affordable..

Thank you to all the sponsors and everybody who donated. I was blown away by the amount of stuff that was donated to the raffle and auction and not to mention the prizes! Holy SH.. the prizes..So sweet! Thanks!

Unfortunately we camped at the end of the Schooners campground so we weren't able to party and meet everyone but we still had fun just the same. I would of liked to have met more of you guys and put a face to your screen name. Thanks to Fransisco and his son Frankie for the company and great hospitality. Early bird get's the water to himself!!

Opening Day and we had the whole cove to ourselves until we were done and back on the beach drinking beer!!

Gabe/ElDorado...thanks for the consejos up by the truck bro....really appreciate it!!

Hope you guys had as much fun as I did out there!!

BloodBath, if you would have told me you were gonna go there later I would have left you my rope to get down easier!!!

BigJim,

I wish I would have gone with you. Next year we won't have the opportunity to get abs during the Albion trip so we'll have to hook up some other time. Hopefully soon. I'm sure we'll have a blast.

I'm sure I'll see you before the next Albion trip. Are you going to the MBK tourney?

Sad I missed it this year but I had made plans to play in a soccer tournament.  Can't complain, a bunch of old guys lost in the championship game.

Major props to all that braved the not-so-perfect conditions.  Congrats to all that placed.  Job well done Craig and Linelle.

Big thanks to Craig & Linelle for all the hard work leading up to & during the event. Everytime I heard Craig coming on the vhf and asking "how's it going out there guys?" I knew he really wanted to be out there to see for himself. So for you buddy I took the two pics below. After 12noon the wind started really kicking in and it got even worse than these pics. I actually had more fun diving on Sunday with William102, Jedmo, Bloodbath, Solsfr, and Andy/Fishmaster. The vis was pretty good & I actually saw a perch.  :smt044 C U all next year! jim

Just got to reading all this, some beautiful pics guys!

Craig and Linelle, thanks much for a great time.
Thank you all for welcoming my family and a few friends, I was also celebrating a long times friends 40th bday.

I did not stay up late and party, as i had my little one with me, but none the less good times at a great spot.
My wife was super stoked her Enchilada Casserole was all gone at the pot luck, she doesnt cook much so she was pretty proud of her contribution..

My only complaint is, the weekend just went too fast!

Congratulations too Ricci and Christina, see ya in snata cruz sometime!
Marcos and Rich too! You guys all did amazing!

Joel, thanks so much for the "thank you" plaque you made for Raquel and I, we were so surprised and honored you thought of us!

Hello All :smt006
Thanks for a warm welcome and it was a pleasure to meet as many of you as I did. Tote invited my wife Denise and I to join Becky and himself, John and Lisa to an amazing weekend in Albion.  He wasn't lying. What a nice group of people. Although I don't have a yak and my back is currently not letting me do much of anything I look forward to many more outings, getting a yak of my own and fishing along side of you instead of watching you paddle out to the horizon.

Again,
Thank you   :hello2:

sorry for the late post. Again a very enjoyable NCKA event..much appreciation to Craig and Linelle, the sponsors and donors for making everything come together.. your efforts help facilatate an event which brings good people together sharing a common cause..

I was pleased to be able to catch both GSiv and Albion for the first time this season..Its great getting to meet and make more and more friends in this community..the level of comraderie is truly heart warming.

a special thanks to my fishing partner HobieDave for letting me squat on his camp site yet again...plus kayakjack for extending his formitable kitchen platform.(thanks for turning me onto Racer5 brew.. ) it was good to meet BWOden and experience his thai noodles..Cam you are a talented man indeed..both of you guys rock.
was it brian the guy from Lodi? thanks for bringing the home picked peaches and nectarines.. ( I forgot your screen name. Can you PM me?)

As for the fishing..first timer at Albion so thanks to  the guys who passed down the tips as to where to start out. I was spooked by the big swells near the cove opening..so much so  I didnt dare delpoy my FF nor set up my gear.. I didnt feel like taking my eyes off the breaking waves and mixed swells. after 20 minutes I almost bailed and told Hobiedave  I was heading back to fish inside the cove....after coming back in towards the wash rocks I began feeling a little more at ease and decided to give it a try..  I figured it was a good opportunity  to  build on my big blue experience. I  was thankful I took the MBK ocean safety course with Aaron and Holakai last season and mentally rehearsed self rescue proecedures.

plus my HobieAdventure is a sea kayak so now was a good time as ever to see how my rig handled the swells. (glad I did as I discovered later on that I took in 4-5 gallons of water. cant figure if water is entering from fwd or center hatches so I need to do some investigation...either way.. I will no longer hold out on the self bailing suction device.

things settled down for me as I started to get into the fish.
I was rigged way too big as I was using a home modified  8oz swimbait.still managed to score a 15" cabezon and a few rockies.. but they were mostly small and were sent back down with a stern warning to get bigger..

finished the afternoon sightseeing up the river to the barge house with Hobiedave and his wife Pam...the stretch along the river viewing the redwoods was great..

sunday ventured out with BigJim, andy, jim, and Gabrial to fetch an ab.. I was reminded  the value of good fitting equipment..my jacket was so damn tight and uncomfortable I couldn't get relaxed in the water and take a vfull breadth..so  I decided to go to plan B and just rock pick nearby the guys. finally scored a barely legal one and  fiugred thats all I really needed for dinner.  wrapped up with a brew on the beach with the boys.

what a great weekend building friendships, playing on the ocean, and taking in the scenary of our awesome coastline..
Someone above nailed it...can't believe the weekend came and went so fast..Now  I must face post tourney blues..

thanks everyone for putting things together to facilitate the event.

It's odd how few people fell in the drink at Albion. At GS4 we had 6 or more go in the dring with almost flat calm conditions, and at Albion we had only one yak show it's bottom side out on the water. Speaking of that, where is "Dunk"?

Craig and Linelle, Thanks so much for all the hard work putting on this event, you two are awsome people(and Tessa too). Congadulations to all the winners, I felt like a winner just by being there.  Next year I got to place in the top three, I want one of those cool paintings by Ben(Guitarzan), already have a place to hang it.

THANK YOU mIKE(Tote) and Becky, you two were great neighbors, best margarita I've ever had and the oysters were'nt bad either.

David(Tigerfish) thanks for the swimbaits, and that bacon wrapped wahoo was the bomb man I'm getting hungy again just thinking about it.

I've been going to Albion for over 20 yrs with my family vacations.  Being there with the NCKA is a whole other level of fun, I'll never forget this last weekend :smt006

Thank you NCKA

Another late post. Many thanks to Craig and Linelle and all others who gave time or otherwise contributed to making this a special time for so many. Don D said it best for me, being there made me a winner. I skipped the Saturday fishing but had a great time on the Friday party boat (thanks Rich), playing pee-wee golf with the young'un, river trip on Saturday, and diving for a nice limit of abs with Brian G and company on Sunday, plus chilling it at camp NCKA.

Big Jim invited me for abbing on Sunday morning but I missed the early start and didn't want to be playing catch-up and holding folks up. Brian came through and it was really a treat to get back out in a wetsuit for the first time in more than 5 years. Whoo-hooo back in the saddle!

And thanks to Dave Blatt for coming through on a campsite!

Then the Mooch is present, awesome as ever in spite of what he's going through. The buffet was out of this world, there are many gourmet cooks in this NCKA club. Pam and I got to share the site with Dave (flyingfishrow) & Doug (grumpy) same place with you guys next year please. Dave C, Hobie-Pam wants that 2ND tandem picture for show&tell at work. most of my shots sucked so they went away, except one of Tiny on our way out Sat. and my AOTY gopher rockfish. dave...

much Craig and Linelle for all your hard work making it happened for all of us to
enjoy. Congrats to Fishworks,Rockroach,MontanaN8V, and Christina on catching
the winning fish.

I only managed to catch a few rockfish and an under size ling on Saturday and that was it. The water condition was no joke. My worst ocean condition so far
but I didn't give up so easily so I stayed as long as I can.

Thanks to Saltydog, William102,FishMaster1,Bloodbath,and Solsf for letting a newbie tag along for some ab dive on Sunday. Our camp enjoyed the gift BTW Jim, William, and Jimbo. We all appreciate it.

Thanks Rey and Patty for my daughter's Birthday gift.

Art probably wont ever go to Albion because the creed now will be, " all welcome at Albion Open. All races, all walks of life, all cultures, all lifestyles. Hippies especially!". There wasnt one person who was there this year that i just didnt get a kick out of. We are in this together. We are fisherpeople above all else. Plus a big welcome to those coming home to their roots. The dude who showed up because he was going over the bridge and saw all the kayaks and campers was Keith Keahi from Maui. He couldnt grasp the love and fellowship that was there for him to partake of. Lifes a gas , why not enjoy it to the fullest and let the hate and ego just fall to the wayside. Thanks DaveW for all you do.

It’s mostly been said, but I have to add to the chorus. GREAT JOB CRAIG & LINELLE !!!!

Chose the peace and quite of Schooners over the many friendly offers to camp share as this was my wife Janis’ first foray into one of these events. Probably won’t be her last as she kept commenting on how helpful and friendly everybody was and what a great time she had. Eric B you made her day with the gift of fresh Uni, Thanks ! Thanks to Andy & Brenda, Al & Sara for letting me “mooch” their BBQ facilities when I was too lazy to start my own fire (cause that’s the way I roll). A special shout out to our camping neighbors at Schooner’s, Ricci & Christina. Way to go. Couldn't happen to a nicer couple. Ricci, excellent job on the heartfelt acceptance speech  :smt041 :smt041. Awesome cookies. Bring more next time.   :smt003

Back to the relative quite of Schooner’s. I didn’t realize seals could make so many bizarre sounds at night, bubble blowing, farting, gurgling and splashing. Then there was the weird, is that a chicken, a turkey, a ???? sounds during the day and even in the middle of the night, which turned out to be a clutch of nesting Great Blue Herons at feeding time – aka O dark :30.

Saturday didn’t lead to any fish for me. Sanity prevailed and I tucked it into the cove like many others. I did get some redemption on Sunday. Joined MontanaN8V just beyond the foghorn rock for an hour or so. On my first drop, as soon as it hit bottom  - fish on – a modest Gopher.  A few minutes later a  fat 20” Cabby slammed my lure. . I did a couple more drifts and headed in.

Took the long road home down the coast, checking out all the fishing spots I‘d heard about  and fantasizing about ways to get my kayak down cliff faces to some really fishy looking spots

Here’s my share of photos - enjoy

And finally, a lttle story of a cabezon.  :smt003 A cabezon caught on wednesday before the tourny. A cab that was weighed , photographed and released. Apparently when there is no corpse, accusations of BS arise. NCKA members (I won't mention Montana's name), strangers, even the game warden implied that I might be lying.  :smt044 So in my own defense, here is what an 11 pound cabbie from Albion looks like.   :smt102

I would like to give a huge thanks to everyone for posting up so many pics of this awesome event. My wife is into scrap booking big time and usually comes away from our vacation trips wishing she had more pics. She and I keep looking through these threads and are constantly amazed at the quality of the pictures everyone took. They'll make that weekend last forever. A special thanks to Fishmaster 1 who captured the best pic of my son I've seen so far and the only one of me with my game clip of small fish from Saturday.

Aslo, thanks to the guys who took Rich and my kids up the river Saturday afternoon. The kids loved that. Thanks BigJim for loaning my son your big yak. You're a first class guy. I'm glad to call you and many others my friend.

I can't wait for next year. The atmosphere in camp was like nothing I've ever been a part of before.

Thanks to everyone who made this happen.  :smt006

My son Eric hooked, netted and released this beautiful Salmon. His first saltwater catch!

Good job Eric!

That's what I said...but Eric was honest enough to admit that he was using a barbed hook. Never the less, it was a fine catch (and release)  :smt023 You da man Eric  :smt002
