I'm looking into gettting an underwater digital camera. I figured I'd take the free diving class  and get the underwater camera first instead of getting a gun. I figured I can tag a long with you spearos on this board and maybe pick-up some tips while I'm taking underwater photos   :smt002

Anyone know much about underwater digi cameras? I saw this one.....

IMO a newbie would feel better in the water with a gun in his hand, though I'd feel better in the water with a newbie with a camera in his hand.  ;)

I got a re-loadable film camera w/ flash for about $24 in hawaii.  I imagine you could order one of those.  Going digital would be considerably more expensive.

Doesn't the camera man hold on the fish too?  =)

Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.

Here's what I use. it didn't cost me an arm and a leg and it works just fine. Waterproof to 200 ft; like I will ever be down that far. Easy to use and has a fairly rugged exterior.

Loking at Pentax Optio WP or the Olympus Stylus 720 SW and their respective underwater housings.  Would be purchasing a second memory? card (largest and fastest) and battery (largest).

Other candidates must be waterproof cameras plus available manufacturer (cheaper) waterproof housings for diving.

Thoughts?  Thanks!

You want a camera with a high ISO setting The Fujifilm F11 is a high quality low cost camera that has an ISO setting of 1600. Fuji also makes reasonably priced housings and underwater flashes. It also has a metal frame,an excellent display, and many manuel settings. The old model F10 I have used a bit takes excellent pictures and is a well thought out camera.
