It's a bit of a drive for me with work in the afternoon, but I'm keeping an eye on this thread! You planning to leave out of oak shores I assume? The concrete path there gets you pretty close to the water, and the walk isn't too steep.

I'm pretty sure one of out HR managers at Budweiser just relocated, there may be an opening there, if not now then soon I would imagine. I don't know anything about the salary side of the house, but it's probably at least worth keeping an eye out on buschjobs.com

You could try aircraft paint remover, that's what I used to remove the paint from my mtb and dirt bike frames. It's a bit of work, but it can be done.

I may be able to get out Wednesday morning, I work at 3 pm. I'll keep an eye on the thread and see what your plan is. Didn't get my first trout today during the hurricane at Rancho Seco, so I still have the itch!

Well that's no good! We'll try another weekend, I wouldn't be able to get to the lake until 9 or so anyway.

I haven't fished Berryessa either, so I have no idea where the fish are. I guess there are some good spots up in the narrows, and you could probably stay mostly out of the wind by hiding behind the shore. If you left out of Markley Cove I guess theres a rock pile out by the dam that is supposed to hold some fish. Like I said though I've never fished it, and if I remember correctly the wakeboard boat claimed that was some pretty deep water. I could join you Sunday, but plans have changed and I won't be able to get out of the house until 8 am or so.

Gearing Up and Rigging Up / Re: Why does my anchor trolly twist?
« on: January 13, 2016, 01:48:26 PM »
Solid ideas here! I'm going to have to give some or all of them a try. I think I'll replace the ring with a turnbuckle so that I can make sure the line is tight, use a clip on one side instead of tying the rope directly to it. I'll pick up a zig zag cleat and run the line through the clip instead of attaching to it. Since the lines on my chute are already cut I'll put a swivel in there.

I think that should cover it! If it still twists I'm going anchor-less  :smt044

Thanks everyone

Gearing Up and Rigging Up / Why does my anchor trolly twist?
« on: January 13, 2016, 12:43:10 AM »
I recently put a DIY anchor trolly on my WS thresher 140, using hardware store pulleys at the bow and stern, a length of BRAIDED rope, and a stainless steel ring in the middle to clip my anchor/chute to. The trolleys operation is flawless, until I attach something to it. After sitting in the current of the slough or the ocean for any amount of time my anchor/chute line always winds up wrapped around the trolley line, and I can't for the life of me figure out why. Sometimes it's not so bad, but last weekend I got so frustrated trying to untangle my chute I just cut the rope away. It really just doesn't make sense to me at all.

Could the ring be catching so much current that it's able to spin despite the pull of an anchor or chute on the end?

Thanks for any insight!

I'd like to get out Sunday, I'm also a novice and spend most of my time in the sloughs in Suisun. I've never gone for trout so was thinking of hitting Rancho Seco or Berryessa, but hopefully some more folks will join in with some suggestions! Like you, I just want to fish!

John, I do remember seeing and asking how it was going for you! I fished shallow all day 10-15 feet, I guess that was my problem... Well part of it. Suppose I just need to go dangle some night crawlers out there so I can at least catch a fish at the port  :smt011

Went out to the port today, mostly just to test out my new dry gear and work on some different paddling techniques. I did get some fishing in, and got skunked. Port: 2 Cody: 0

Any who I saw a bunch of kayakers, and talked to a few. I don't know why but didn't even think to ask who anyone was, but surely some of you were out there! I was on the dusk WS thresher. So if you were out there, how did you do?!

Gearing Up and Rigging Up / Re: Kayak "fishing" paddles
« on: January 10, 2016, 12:55:06 AM »
Good read and good advice in this thread! I'm in the middle of trying to decide on a new paddle and this has helped everything but my wallet! :smt044

I'm battling some tendinitis in my right elbow, and the cheap/heavy paddle that came with my boat can't be helping. I would imagine my paddle angle is pretty high, but I'm scared the high angle blades are going to hurt my elbows more. I went out today and worked on paddling technique, but I'm curious to know how a new paddle could help to?

Kayaks / Re: Conseal deck kits?
« on: November 21, 2015, 12:12:54 PM »
Looks good Rob! We will see how it turns out when it arrives, but I received an e-mail from ACK today that it won't even be at their warehouse until 14 December. So looks like I'll be waiting a while, or finding another supplier.

Hydrospider, thank you fro the thread link, very informational! It seemed you had pretty good things to say about the Conseal kits, and hadn't at the time had the seadek long enough to know durability.

FishingForTheCure, and anyone else interested, I got a kit on the way just now. Should be here next week I hope, but it may be a bit before I can get to the install. But if anyone is interested in a review, thoughts on install or wants to see the kit up close I can post it up here!
