Not a fan of the weight, but I'd love to take it for a spin.  The inability to go in reverse has always bugged me with the Hobies.

That's heavy! And 21 pounds for the drive. Also heavy. I think the Mirage is between 7 and eight pounds. If one has an easy wheel right to the water spot for a launch then the weight doesn't matter as much but crossing a long stretch of uphill sand mixed with baby head sized rocks might be a bit much.

Definetly some new competition, I'd be interested to demo it. They're going to have to PROVE them selve to hobies standard...

I dunno. 117 lb is a good weight for an eating pig, but a boat that weight needs a trailer and a ramp to launch.

;-D
Warning! Retiree; Knows it all and has plenty of time to tell you about it.

My bad on the weight of the Mirage Drive. Out of curiosity I weighed my drive. 14.88 pounds. Solid arms and SS mtb pedals so a stock drive with hollow arms and plastic pedals might be a couple pounds less.

Looks like a barge. My knees hurt just thinking about pedaling it.

Maybe a stand-up fighting belt..... I for one am really looking forward to testing the monster.  Though you know I love paddling this boat might convince me to , at least, possess an option.

I should have a test drive and review mid-week.

They say the max speed is 5.5 mph. That's pretty good.

I doubt it because the XL has foot rudder controls and the seat can't be moved forward/back.
