They are only following protocol and attempting to determine that you are the correct patient for the 'scope.

It keeps the lawyers and insurance carriers in line, too.

That was an excellent story! You're an entertaining writer. Thanks for sharing it. And I can relate...had my first colonoscopy before I was even 30...not by choice...then last October had 18 inches of my lower colon removed & sewn back together. If I hadn't done it, I probably wouldn't be in very good shape today. Glad it's over with now and so far, so good!

So I got the call from my dermatologist yesterday...  Biopsy came back positive for cancer.   Luckily it is only on the upper layer of skin and home chemotherapy gel should take care of it.

Caused by sun exposure.  We are all at risk.

Glad it's only on the top and you can take care of it at home.
As much as it sucks in another way it's great news.
Keep us posted and another reminder to get yourself checked.

Glad you're able to take care of it early. I hope the treatment goes well.

Warning signs were a red itchy scaly spot on my hand.  Had it looked at years ago and the Dr said she was positive it wasn't cancer, but get it checked again if it get's bigger.  It did get bigger and they told me it is eczema and gave me steroid cream.  It didn't get better so they finally biopsied it, which is the only way to be certain.

Google squamous skin cancer for more info.

Mine is on the mild side, so I'm lucky to get away with using a topical cream for 10 weeks that should kill it.  Nothing close to what a few of us have been through.

Seems like things will work out well for you Eric.  Purely catch and release   :smt003

For those tripping on the colonoscopy, I've had two so far, both negative.  They don't hurt aside from the needle for the IV.  The prep has changed a lot from my first 10 years ago and my last, 5 weeks ago.  Ten years ago it was 3 days of skip to the loo.  Now its one day of intense don't stray too far from the bathroom and the drinks aren't bad.

I am not a fan of doctors, (remember it's "practicing").  But in their defense, I understand why they don't just biopsy willy nilly...  Mine left a pretty big hole in my hand.  No biggie to me, but I'm sure most people would find the scar unsightly, and people be all sue crazy.

Also, a certain type of eczema looks exactly like squamous carcinoma...  remarkably so.  Plus, squamous carcinoma usually doesn't show up in your 40's.  It mostly hits those in their 70's.

In addition to all that I changed Dr's, and put off going back for a re-check for far too long.
