General Talk / Re: Nice German Shepard needs new home
« on: December 14, 2022, 10:03:32 AM »
Bushy,   We got our German Shepard from Golden State German Shepard Rescue a few years ago.  Maybe they could help find a home for this beautiful dog.

General Fishing Tips / Re: Numb hand
« on: August 15, 2022, 03:52:11 PM »
I recently experienced the same thing after a day of landing lots of rock fish.  I had lots of very small cuts on my hands from the barbs on the fish I was handling.  The swelling and numbness lasted a couple of days.  Probably a good idea to wear glove when handling these.

General Talk / Re: Kitchen Knives

I have had a set of Henkle knives for 48 years.  They're still as good as the day I got them.  I straighten the edge with a "steel" frequently but other than that and an annual sharpening, they continue to be great.  Even the wood block looks good after 48 years.

I have one that I keep on the Man Van battery.  I've been using it for 3 or 4 years and haven't had any issues.

Hobie Kayaks / Re: Hobie dolly questions
« on: June 08, 2022, 04:39:13 PM »
I installed Landing Gear on my Outback.  I have 2 sets of axels.  One with the Wheeleeze style balloon tires and the other with more rigid wheels.  When not dealing with sand launches, the rigid wheels are great.  They can be removed and inserted into the bar with the kayak in about waist deep water eliminating the need to lift or drag the yak.  Landing Gear is a pricy option and not an easy install with the backing plate but a really elegant wheel solution.

General Talk / Re: Best place to buy ice?

I fill 1/2 gallon plastic milk bottles and keep them in my garage freezer.  They fit neatly into my ice chests and don't defrost as fast as bagged ice.

I'll be there with Dave and Pam.  I'll pull Dave's Trailer with the Man Van so the Aero Cruiser won't have to deal with additional weight on the grade.

I totally agree with Alex.  It's all about the people!  I have never fished competitively but haven't missed many NCKA events.  A non-tournament event works great for me.  The Loose Screws have always been about the social aspect.

Retirement!  Does that mean you will be fishing with the "Screws" like the "old days"?  Can't wait!

CA Regulations / Re: Dungeness crab possession limit.
« on: December 09, 2021, 08:59:19 AM »
The solution is simple!  Catch a limit of crabs. Steam and share them with your friends, making sure all are consumed.  Next day REPEAT!  ..........................

General Talk / Re: Electric Bikes

If the seat is not comfortable, it's an easy low cost fix.  My Rad seat was horrible.  I upgraded to a seat post with suspension and a seat with more padding and suspension for about $50.

Check out RAD bikes.  They have the Radrunner+ with a seat or even a child carrier.  I think the second seat is rated at 95 lbs.
