The only suggestion I have is that with each report, participants are encouraged to throw a little trash talk in the mix.   . Because while I don't shoot many fish (and what do shoot are small), I excel at the trash.

I'm down. I'm signing up for ATOY around the first, and since I usually almost drown a few times a year for ab.....why not!

I'm in....that way incase I pull a Darius at GMS I can enter a fish for Big fish in AOTY.

I say leave all the eel out, but I'd like to add a dungeness crab category....maybe 25 points per inch?

Who is tracking the totals? Will a site be set up?

Who is the committee to sort out all the BS that will happen about entries etc?  Jim, Fuzz and Rick would work.

Add a rule that committee decisions are final...NO BS this is for fun.

I'm down with adding a dungie catgeory, but say leave the Monkeys in. IMO Monkeys are a highly prized delicious fish that is only taken by those crazy poke polers or divers. Have seen way more reports this year of divers taking Monkeys than dungies.

Think it's better to have more categories than less to be as inclusive as possible to allow folks to try and get their 10 species/categories.

As far as how to track it all etc...I'm up for suggestions...I was thinking of asking the mods for a stickie in the Kayak Diving section and we could have the first post there have the rules, list of participants, list of prizes, and a running tally of entries/point totals per participant. Participants could report as they regularly would (or not) and then just submit a post on the DOTY thread with their entry and I could transfer their entry/points to the first post in the thread with a link to their pics of their entries?

If there is a better/simple/easier way to do it let me know what you think! I aint a website person and don't want to create more work for the mods who are already busy...

Yes, good call on committee decisions being final...somebody will need to have the final say on some stuff for sure...the less BS/drama etc IMO the better!

This thing will be as fun as we make it...so let's make it hella fun and have a good time with it and see how it goes!!  Figure we have until 1/1/12 to finalize details and then we can always tweak whatever doesn't work/improve it for 2013!

I'd be willing to be on the committee, if needed.

Dungies-- not many target them diving, judging by reports, but there's no harm in including them.

Monkeyface eels-- I could understand the decision to include or to exclude them. Maybe take a poll?

I'd kind of like to have them included, but my opinion is biased because I have a hole that seems to always holds a big one 

James, good point about the format. Using a thread to track it would be convenient, but make for a very long, somewhat messy thread. A site like AOTY would probably be easier to manage, but then we'd have to have someone set it up.

Big Jim, just ask Allen if he can set up a DOTY forum for you. I think this is a great idea and look forward to watching you guys duke it out. jim

I set up a "2012 DOTY" sub-board of the diving board and moved this here.  It's currently set up such than only members with >10 posts can access, the though being your submissions could be more private.  Let me know if that is something you don't want.

Jim,  DOTY , Great Idea.    Count me in.   Couple of questions, Will there be separate categories for Spearguns and Polespears?  Or just the one combined?  is any legal DFG tool allowed for harvesting the fish???.                    Man I sound like a farmer..I mean Killing of the fish.
 Is there going to be a 55 yo and up age bracket with handicap points???  Looks like I'm going to need a bigger fuel tank for the extra trips to Ma Ocean.   A Big Thanks to the folks committing their time as committee members, and the NCKA Admin for supporting this idea. RussfromReno

No seperate category for PoleSpear/Speargun, all combined...like if someone wants to use a handline or a fly rod instead of a "regular" rod and reel it would be the same for AOTY....personal choice, but end result is the same. 

Yes, any legal DFG tool allowed is all good. Take em with your bare hands if you can!   

No handicap bracket for you older guys...you have more experience and wisdom right?   

Bigger fuel tank: yes.
