Tim,

Did you catch that Ling off a kayak?  How big?  Awesome fish!

Hello there Pat,
For some reason all the photos are labled "halibut" the first photo in the file was labeled as such and the rest just got the name. I must confess, I caught it off my little put-put. 32lbs. Should have been in the durby that year. here are some caught on my yack. thanks all. this is a great forum.

Man, those are some nice ones.  I'm still planning on heading over Friday after work, and fishing north of the head, depending on swells/wind.  Where about you plan on heading out Tim?

It'll be a Saturday only trip for me, plan on getting out of here about 3ish a.m. for the drive over.  Swells look good, should be a nice day.  You going to fish the bay?

We'll launch at Trinidad and go north of the head if the swell is OK. It's looking like it will be. If not we'll stay in the bay, maybe go for halibut in Eureka bay on Sun. or there may be koaknee in stone lagoon. I'm leaving Fri. in the early afternoon and taking a three day weekend. Planning to get as much time on the water as  possible. See you up there. I'm sure we'll be the only ones with kayaks at the beach launch. Don't forget a crab pot if you have one.

Sounds good, we'll see ya on the water.  I've got a blue Pro Explorer that'll be way overloaded with gear, but like you said, we'll probably be the only yaks on the water.  And i'll be sure to bring my crab pot, although i've never used it from the yak...I found your collection from the opener last year, you guys slaughtered them!

tight lines,
Ben

Just got off the phone with my friends up in Arcata. Looks like to swell isn't going to be very favorable, and no one seems to be catching anything because the ocean is still merky from runoff. I'm bumbed. I'm all geared up and ready to go. I might see about heading south of Point Sur. Save on some gas money. Give a report and good luck.
