A little sneak peak

As a reminder, this boat was designed as a flats, small lake, swamp type boat. Wildys biggest market. Not for ocean or big open water. The Ride has always been for that and the bigger paddler.

Is the Ride not useable in the ocean or just not optimal?

The wider a boat is the more stable it is. Especially for bigger guys. The wider the boat the slower though. When you get a big current it will be harder to paddle against it. My dad and a buddy of mine have both used it in the ocean and had no problems. The original design, and even the new boat posted here were originally designed as bass boats or for flats fishing. It is extremely popular in Texas and the south. Even the new Jackson's are turds in the ocean compared to a Tarpon or Prowler. Remember that I was mainly talking about the 11.5' new boat.  I use my Ride when I don't need to go more than a mile or so. Usually in small ponds and lakes for bass. I like to cover a LOT of ground when I fish.
