I saw an ad from Cobra for their 18 ft Expedition with a guy fishing on it.  When I checked their webpage they don't have it listed as one of their fishing kayaks.  I found an old post by granitedive who paddled one and said it was tipsy and unmaneuverable.  Does anybody have any info on fishing from this kayak.

I've paddled an Expedition. IMO: great kayak for trolling but it will take a little more time getting used to the stability. I think the Cobra Tourer (I used to fish from this kayak) would be a better kayak to fish from if I were to choose between all the cobra models....

just my 2 cents..

FYI: Half Moon Bay Kayak Company has all the cobra models for rental...

Sailfish and Mooch thanks for the info and links on the Expedition.  All of the reviews on the paddle site were helpful.  I wish I had found this website a couple of years ago.

I did purchase an Expedition.  Last year Cobra offered their dealers Blemished Expeditions for $475 and perfect Expeditions for $700.  A dealer I know got a blemished one and couldn't use it in his store.  He sold it to me for 550 to cover his shipping cost.

We took it to Shelter Cove after Christmas, finally had a day with only 7-8 ft swells and got to give it a try.  It is true to every review that I read.  Much faster then my OC scupper pro, but not nearly as stable.  It will take a couple of trips to get used to it, I'll be spending the rest of winter getting it rigged for this summer.

Thanks again for the links and help.

I got the cobra expedition too! It moves very nicely through the water but needs some mods. The hatch is nice but there are just too many latches.  Is there a way to modify the hatch to make it easier to open?  There doesn't appear to be any pre-made mods.
