Got my first kayak last week from Headwaters in Lodi. Went with the Jackson Big Tuna! I only got to take it out the afternoon that I bought it with my wife. This thing is AWESOME!!! So much space, and it handles surprisingly well given its size. I can't wait to try it with the single seating option, hopefully next week if it cools down.

The whole experience with buying my first kayak was so much easier than I thought it was going to be thanks to Dan of Headwaters. He really took the time to show me all of my options, (we spent a good hour weighing everything out, and he did an amazing job patiently answering all of my prying questions) he did not try to sell me on anything that I didn't need. Dan and his team hooked me up with a couple paddles and a car rack system. They even took the time to set up my car and loaded my kayak for me, showing me everything I need to do when I am on my own. Thanks so much Dan, you and your crew are solid!

So now that I have my very own yak, let's go catch something! I am open to go with anyone anytime I am not working! I definitely need some experience before hitting big water, any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Indeed! I bought a big tuna last week as well and their customer service is excellent. I only got to try it in lake natoma and I still need to learn how to paddle with another person on the kayak lol. Thanks Dan!

The Tuna is a great rig for two and paddles just as easy solo.  If you like crabbing - this is a grabbing machine!  Congrats! Love the color!

Are you still a fan of your big tuna? I am thinking about getting a cuda but second guessing for a big tuna to take my kids.

Congrats on the new tank!!! Great color choice too.

Good call on getting it at Headwaters. Dan runs a great shop. It looks like he even threw in something to fill the cup holder ;)
