Just thought I would share this. Cant beat the weather and fishing down south. Its a shame boats in Monterey don't target these correctly. Lots of bait for chum and a good side scanning sonar to get these. We had 300 lb + jumping but they did not bite. 10 landed for 32 guys and a 107 Yellowfin. I also got 4 Yellowfin that were 45 lbs each.
Not bad for a Day and a half trip. My personal best on these. 7 day trips did not have fish this nice when they came in.  God I wish boats here put effort in. My Buddy has seen these Jumping in Moneterey bay this year. He tows Bigger boats and has ran across them. If you go do this nothing less than 2 speed reel and 60 to 100 lb line. Then hang on.

Right on, Bud!

The BFT bite has been crazy good this year and especially the last few weeks. Glad you got in on it!

Hola Bud....what tackle were you using on the two bluefin? And how many guys needed to drag them over the rail? Great job, Ron

3 guys to get over rail. Accurate 2 speed ATD 30 on a 665h Sabre rod 60 lb line Mono. I HATE BRAID.. I would not fish them with a lighter rig. Not like wicked Tuna where the Rod is fixed in the rail on a 130 and a club for a rod. These are stand up fish.

Hmm.  Next time your buddy  "sees them jumping in Monterey Bay," let us know about it.  We can target them and we know how to catch them.  They are rare up here and usually a much smaller model when they do appear.
