Yup. I've hooked surfperch and when holding them while trying to remove the hook, 30-40 baby fish just pop out and start swimming away. I thought they laid eggs before i saw that happen!

Bleeahhhh.  Perching is at a standstill on the north side of Monterey BAy.  No waves at all, and no feeding fish.  I've tried Manresa, Rio, my spots in town and haven't got a decent perch all week.

Supposed to have a bit of well over the weekend, hopefully that will change things up.

I did well on my side yesterday on high tide. The only problem is that its a crappy slanted walk to the spots. Nice deep holes though.

Thanks Bushy for the report ! Have you fished the the dog beach west of the light house in SC. I think they Locas call it ITs beach. Just wondering because the break there last week was very fishey and watched a guy perching of the cliff and actually caught a BSP.

Thanks. So as long as the fry were not outside the fish you are fine , but they do go towards limit if outside of mama and in possession from article .

Never have fished there and I have no excuse.  fished Mitchell's cove a couple times in the witner but it was alsways way weedy.
