Hey everyone,

I came across this site that had a really cool, really clean pre-fab looking crate and rod leash idea.

The best part, there's plenty of pictures step by step and all the parts and where to get them.
Guess I just added a new project for myself.  Hope someone benefits from the info.

Cheers,

That solves my sloppy rod leashes.  Heading down to Depot now.  Great internet find.  Guy must be an anal engineer.

Another source instead of cell phone chargers => My in-laws signed up for local casino players club card and they give you leashes attached to the cards.  I took all the leashes off the cards and I use them for lighter rod leashes (In-laws went back to Fl & don't need the cards anymore).  So, next time you are at a casino, sign up for the free leash and probably tons of crap email too!

That's a clean way to do it...

I found this out a long time ago from a 20 year veteran kayakfisherman from Texas...

I have found that all you have to do is put a brass clip on one side and and loop the coils on the other end into a circle and clamp...

the coils do a real nice job of holding onto the handle of the rod and are easily removable in case of emergency...

I'll try to find a pic or take another one and post up...

problem these days is finding cell phone charger cords...

2nd hand stores usually have bin of useless electronics and can find these pieces of gold inside...

Thanks for the post and contributing     :smt006

The cell phone cords are $1.00 a piece at pretty much any goodwill/thrift store.

Thought that was what I just said....  anyway,

guess I was going to the wrong one... they wanted  $2 and did not have much   :smt012

then I got smart... we have cell phones on all of our fire engines and ambulances... knowing we terrorize our equipment, we had to have lots of dead cell phone stuff laying around somewhere...

sure enough...  " you want these...? "   our communication guys asked...

  oh ya....   :smt045

I really thinh that the clips are cool and his crate puts an end to the free shitty looking milk crate doesnt it. The PVC pipe and heating it and moulding on the bottle. Is genius. Its Ok to be anal when you are making something.

:smt003 Glad everone enjoyed that.  You gotta admit, they look like anything you'd buy at the tackleshop. I'd for sure pay 10.00 if I saw them.  I'll make sure that if I find any other cool stuff, I'll post it up for you guys.

Yeah, the molding of the tube on the bottle idea is money!

thanks, thats a lot of cool stuff.

been using cell charger leashes for 5 or 6 years now.  I like that they are hook resistant, I attach them with velcro wrap on one side and a tiny biner on the other.

to make the loops, I use a fly tying bobbin loaded with old spectra and wrap it up tight, then coat it with CA glue fopr a FOREVER finish   :smt003

I picked up the clips at Home Depot.  99 cents each but hard to find.  They have them in a few different locations throughout the store.  I finally found the small ones in an aisle cardboard displayer.  They work as advertised and feel very secure and like he said easily removeable if they are in the way while fighting a fish.  I had to grab the pic off the website to show a couple of guys before one knew what I was looking for.
