For Sale / Re: [FS] Brand New Hobie 180 Drive (no fins) - $550
« on: November 18, 2022, 12:43:40 PM »
yep i was thinking this is more for those who have an older drive w/ fins wanting to upgrade. if you bought new fins it would still be ~$150 less than retail (without tax or shipping) so just trying to get back what I paid after I decided to go in a different direction.

However, if anyone has an offer I'm open if it's reasonable and be out a few bucks.

For Sale / [FS] Brand New Hobie 180 Drive (no fins) - $550
« on: November 16, 2022, 01:37:41 PM »
Hi everyone, have a brand new 180 drive (without fins) that comes in parts - see picture below for all parts that I have. I emailed California Canoe & Kayak- Redwood City and they said it should be good to go.

If you're interested shoot me a note. Located in SF - Venmo / Zelle / Paypal / Cash is fine - $550 (regular 180 drive retailing at >$950). Thanks!

Gearing Up and Rigging Up / Hobie Mirage Drive Pin
« on: October 08, 2021, 12:23:49 PM »
Hi all - realized the pin on mirage drive is missing (see picture below outlined in red). Anyone have a link for where I can order a new one? I've searched online but haven't found anything that looks exactly the same so just want to be sure I'm getting the right pin. Thanks in advance as always!

I'll let folks know how it turns out, probably will install in the next week. If anyone has experience w/ a 3-in-1 thru-hull install, pls feel free to PM me or respond here!

Thanks for the replies! I'm all about making it easy and looks like duct seal is a good move.

And I am also a bit worried about sidescan - I don't care about sidescan but am also curious if people have used sidescan transducers via thru-hull installation and it's worked fine for normal sonar?

My hobie is an older model and doesn't have the lowrance modification (since I've seen some ppl use 3-in-1s via that but wont work for my use case)

Gearing Up and Rigging Up / 3-in-1 transducer install
« on: September 22, 2021, 11:06:01 AM »
Hi all - I have a Go7 and was given a 3-in-1 transducer from a buddy (non active imaging). I'm trying to figure out the best way to mount this and curious if anyone has this big transducer in their yak? I know it's a bit overkill but I got the transducer for free and already have the Go7 on my boat so trying to make it work.

Right now I'm leaning towards the foam cutout + water method as described in this video:

Any thoughts?

Wanted To Buy / WTB: New FF
« on: September 13, 2021, 11:16:27 AM »
Hi all - looking to get a new FF for a yak ideally w/ GPS, tranducer, power cord, and would be open for a battery as well (but not essential). Let me know if anyone has one they're trying to sell!

Given i don't need downscan / sidescan, do folks have a link to a cheaper transducer  recthat is compatible w/ Go7 that would be able to mount on the inside of the yak? Ideally want to spend less than $150

Or does anyone have a rule of thumb to understand which transducers are compatible w/ Go7 (eg can I use a lowrance transducer or does it have to be Simrad)? Not finding a ton of helpful info via google searches.

also one important detail is that my yak is an older hobie revo (no transducer mount that come w/ the newer models)

General Fishing Tips / Switching FF btw boat and kayak
« on: September 12, 2021, 04:22:48 PM »
Hi all - I have a 20 ft CC boat with a Simrad Go7 FF. I recently bought a Hobie and was thinking the best would be to just switch the FF btw the boat and hobie depending which one I am using. So a few questions:

- Anyone else do this? Anything I'm missing outside of getting a new transducer, wires, etc?
- Does anyone use a Simrad Go7 on their yak? If so, what ram mount did you use and what transducer is best?

Thanks for any and all input!
