Pay It Forward / Update on Pamela Palmer PIF
« on: September 28, 2017, 11:58:39 AM »
We have had a difficult time the last few months and would like to thank everyone again for the  great support. After being told by Doctors in Sacramento to  go to hospice and die. Pam found a Doctor in Seattle that has a different  treatment that seems to be working wonders for her. She asked me to post this here to thank you all again.

Hello Kayakers and Friends!
Thank you for the Pay It Forward donation that you made to help keep me alive and fighting cancer. The
good news is that I am alive and also that I am temporarily in the beautiful Seattle area where there is
plenty of water. I came up here to work with an awesome, out of the box oncologist. So far it’s all going
well. You are part of the financial  solution that allowed me to be here.
I am attaching a photo of me at Alki Beach by Elliot Bay.  Yes, I am bald
but that comes with the territory . Thank you again for your support. I promise to pay it forward when
it is my turn.

General Talk / Wintertime is here RV/automotive Warnings!!!!!! RATS!
« on: December 19, 2016, 12:02:58 PM »
If you  have  packrats/rats in your area it is wintertime take a look what 2 weeks last winter accumulated in my old beater of a car. Sprinter RV also has insulation eaten away and  a search on internet said they love the RV insulation. A simple fix is to place mothballs  under your hood or in storage areas of RV or your  zip tie the  plastic containers under hood area they do not like the smell. A friend in Placerville with a newer jeep SUV had a rodent chew through  the $3000 wiring harness. It can be expensive.

FYI I cleaned out the  acorns  3- 5 gallon buckets  full car started right up and I sold it even after a few of the  acorns caught fire on the test drive .

Safety First / Warning Drunk/and or stupid jetskiers and boaters
« on: September 19, 2016, 10:55:32 AM »
Mouth of the American Sunday evening Many many jetskiers and ski boats. My friend Bob said dam you watch before dark there will be a collision. About dark BOOM! 300 yards downstream from Mouth of American  ski boat hits jetski and flips in water. 5 minutes later fire department arrives. I do not know condition of boaters or jetskier. Also saw 6 kayakers who were lost 2 women  4 men only one had a pfd on.

Remember it is not that you can swim and are good on the water it is that when a jetski or boat hits you and you  are knocked out you might live with pfd or sleep with the fishes without one.

On related news amid 15 jet skiers and many many boats we  caught a 15 lb and a 5 lb salmon at the mouth.

I have caught a few but have heard various things about cutting tail to bleed them out. Can someone give me play by play on how to bleed these so they taste good? Also how do you cut them for cooking sliced?

General Talk / Asked about guns in the Emergency room visit.
« on: June 30, 2016, 07:01:47 PM »
When I took a friend to the Emergency room in Placerville we were asked  questions regarding guns in our home and if she felt safe at home. Being that it pissed me off I answered no guns and not safe because of all the crime. I then found this  online that is a great response to the questions about guns.

Bear kills bicyclist in Montana:
The Christian Science Monitor

I still think we should reintroduce them to California. Just the Tahoe cabin bear breakins  would be worth it.

« on: March 21, 2016, 09:11:01 AM »

I guess California has not figured out that pike eat salmon yet. In the Pacific Northwest they pay to remove Salmon predators. Top fisherman last year made over 100K not to bad for 5 months fishing.

CA Regulations / Question for Hojo
« on: January 06, 2016, 03:49:19 PM »
I have an issue about duck hunting. I am in a 4 man blind with 3 other people. 2 are great, one is being an ass. He has been shooting over limit of Pintails and stuffing them in his backpack and pretending he still doesnt have a limit. What I would like to know is if all four of us are in the blind and he shoots over limits of Pintail who gets cited? We have repeatedly told him not to if we catch him doing it. I shoot and retrieve my own ducks as do the other 2 hunters in the blind.Any suggestions? Kicking him out of the blind is an option for next year but not the rest of this one.
