General Fishing Tips / Re: Kayak Crabbing with a 3 y/o
« on: October 25, 2023, 11:29:41 AM »
WHY.   She really doesn’t want to be on a kayak.   Let her play on the beach and be a kid and be safe.   Better for her and better for you.

I remember when I first got into this,  there was this old fart from the valley who said
“shit if ya always listened to the forecast,  you’d never go Fishin!”

We hoped for good fishing juju and were rewarded!
After the 3rd week  I had to take a look and it Looked good!
The  afternoon got a bit sloppy but by then we were done!

Scotty

Who you call old fart?  Lol

Nice hall thanks for the right up.   You rocked the Fort

Seems hobies get more action than other kayaks.   Any thought’s.   I think the fin action must attract them.   Just a guess.

Hobie Kayaks / Re: Hobie dolly questions
« on: June 07, 2022, 08:49:23 PM »
Not a Hobie user and I assume they have bulked up the scuppers over time, but I would never use a cart that concentrates bounces and torque into the scupper holes.
I get what ur saying, I was concerned too but
I’ve used the Hobie Scupper cart for 3 years now and no problem at all!
Maybe the new generation Outback is just plain TOUGH!   Lol!

I’ve seen and repaired a lot of hobies that had damaged scuppers from those carts.   You either have tough plastic or lucky.   Hard to fix scupper cracks inside the scupper holes.  Be careful kayaks are expensive.

A co-worker/friend of mine used him and said he was great.

Thanks,

Just put in a call, I'll await a call back.  Ukiah would be super easy logistically.

Ukiah should have something if not Itasca/South Dakota University/Embry Riddle/Accelerated flight school/American flyers and California flight academy.   Santa Rosa has flight training.

General Talk / Re: Weird Leak in kayak - Causes? Suggestion how to fix?
« on: February 01, 2022, 01:43:33 PM »
I’ve used g-flex and another product called gator patch.   I also plastic weld kayaks.   The photos of damage on this kayak are perfect for g-flex or gator patch.   Not a good spot to plastic weld/use heat.   There is another hobo repair called an Idaho Patch.   You use construction window weatherstrip with the tacky tar base and aluminum shinny side and put it over holes heat with heat gun then layer it with gorilla tape and heat the gorilla tape to where it’s starts to crinkle.   Good to go.

Get some little Cleo 1/4 once and assorted colors and some roe to bounce.

Yeah take a kayak.   Put in at Healdsburg take out at Wohler bridge or put in at johnson beach and take out Cassinies.   Lots of great beaches that no one else fishes. Pull over and fish and the slow sections throws lures in holes and under cur brush.

Get those spots cause you don’t want to be stuck in the overflow spot.   They shove all the jack wagons there

This.

Where all my jackwagons at ?  Some of the best get togethers in those areas though.  :smt003
