Locks like they completed another evaluation today with no new restrictions.

Headed over to Trinidad next week. Looks like traps are still ok in zone 1&2, figured I would ask those who are more familiar with any changes than I am.

Keep it simple. The necessary safety gear of course. Other than that just take what you need. You probably don’t need 4 rods and 200lbs of gear. I watch some guys out on overloaded kayaks and it gives me anxiety. Lol.

I was excited about it for a bit. I think the Old Town Salty will be a better fit for the wife.

If only I could find a 10.5 in slate blue somewhere in NorCal.

Also without an increase in price. This will be a very popular kayak.

Was looking to get the wife an OT 106 PDL. Then I saw the new Passports 10.5’ and think they may serve the purpose well. She isn’t fishing just wants to cruise around with me while I fish and take photos of the sights. Maybe an occasional trip on the bay or Out of Trinidad when it’s flat. What are y’all’s thoughts on the new offering?

General Talk / Will the price bubble pop?

With the constant price increases with everything when do you think they will stop, level out or return to some form of normal?
We just had to have a new well drilled, pricing went up 35% from last summer when we got estimates, $17k went to $25K. Kayaks seem to be no different. How much will folks pay for kayaks? When will they reach a price point above where the consumer will pay?

Hobie Kayaks / Re: 2021 OB cracked hull

You need to go up the chain at Hobie. Who ever you are talking with ask to talk to their manager. Find emails to upper management. The warranty guys are authorized to make $1000 dollars decisions, upper management makes much bigger decisions. Do they have a Facebook page that they monitor? Beat that drum until they step up and do what is right. Make sure they see the safety side of this. Now that they have “repaired” it once they are really on the hook. Explain that a cracked kayak in the salt water is very dangerous. They are now liable since they know about the problem and tried to cut corners on a remedy.

This is why I have Old Town kayaks. They went above and beyond for me. I bought a used Predator from someone one here. After a few trips I noticed water in my hull. After several emails and phone calls I had a new Predator sent out to me. I can’t go I to specifics, but they are great to deal with.
The kayak did not have a crack when I bought it and was no fault of who I bought it from. It was a common issue on the early units.
Bottom line is these things are very expensive and companies need to stand behind their warranties.

Nice. Good to see folks giving back.
The 2 13’ kayaks are a bit much for the back of my 5.5’ truck bed. When the wife and daughter come along at the lakes it is a pain to get them all in there. Plus I needed better storage  for them. This should keep them happy long term.

The plan is for a box to keep paddles, life jackets and a pedal drive.
