The latest word on Bodega Salmon is that they are very pale fleshed. THis happens when they don't eat a lot of krill. While they are still eatable, they don't have that good rich Salmon flavor.

The fish further South are bright red. They are also running smaller with a lot of 6 to 8 lb fish. The Bodega fish are running 8 to 12lbs and they are picking up 20 lbers here and there.

The reasoning on the pale Bodga Salmon is that there is not enough cold water upwelling bringing krill from the deep offshore to Bodega fishing grounds. Eventually this will change and we will see the good eating red flesh return.
