Viking Profish 400 Lite is under 60lbs. The Profish Reload is under 70.

Headwaters kayak is a Viking  dealer, I'm sure Dan will let you try one out.
It is lite. It is also under 31 inches wide and has a traditional seat. I really liked the stability of the 130X at 32 inches. Great stability without being unnecessarily big. I was surprised at how much wider 2 inches seemed compared to mine. Maybe it seemed bigger because I spent the day before in the 28 inch Tarpon 140.

I have found that wider does not always mean more stable. Boats that sit lower in the water like the Trident 13 tend to have excellent stability even at under 30" wide.

I'm  6'1 240 for reference, and neverfelt unstable on my Trident 13 and was able to stand in it with little trouble on calm water.

I actually had a Cuda 12 for a short while and found it unstable, atleast for a guy my size. It was 31" wide and I was much less comfortable in it.

I'm sure the hull design can make a difference. Maybe I should try the T13 to see how good the seat is.

The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope.  ~John Buchan

I can't count how many times I've read the advice to paddle a kayak before you buy. Other than the helpful offers from my brothers, I can't find these kayaks to paddle. Kayak city is supposed to be a Jackson dealer but doesn't seem to be. They are a wilderness dealer but don't have these kayaks available. CCK is a Jackson dealer but doesn't seem to have the kraken. Any suggestions on where to go? I'd like to check out the thresher 140 and the kraken 13.5.

I've had much better luck with Kayak City in Oakley. You can demo on site there.

Thresher 140 doesn't weigh too much more than 70lbs I don't believe. Internal rod storage, fast, and I stand up in mine to stretch. If you want to try one you're welcome to come pick mine up.

75lbs is not as high as some. At 29 inches wide I'm amazed you could stand up, my 120 is 30.

A shorter kayak like your 120 needs to be wider to gain stability. As the kayak gets longer it can be narrower and still remain stable. Width and length does not always equal stable though. The Cuda at 31"x14' is not as stable as a tarpon 120 in my opinion. The hull design has a LOT to do with stability. There is primary and secondary stability. What feels super stable siting on it (primary)may roll over on you if you get a little off balance or lean too far (secondary). Hull design is much more important than width. I said in another post that I can stand in open ocean, not flat, in the Thresher 140 as Alpinex stated earlier. The 130x had to be wider to add stability with the higher seat. The higher the seat the higher the COG and there needs to be give and take in the design. The 130x is a traditional, good paddling kayak just like the predecessor Tarpons. I would recommend taking Alpinex's offer to use his Thresher 140.

No fishing on the forecast for me this weekend, you're welcome to borrow my thresher. I also work swings (3-11 pm) so usually no week time fishing for me either, keep it a few days if you want and spend some time on it. If you're interested shoot me a pm, I'm in suisun so I can easily meet you.

Seems they aren't stocking these models. I don't know if it's a seasonal thing or what.

Thanks. It looks like I'm going to be working on my truck this weekend but maybe I can squeeze it in.

All theses shops have multiple locations and stock what sells in their region typically. Adventure has 3 locations, CCK has 4. You missed CCK demo day where they had everything out on display for demo from every brand hpthey carry.
